Thank you -- whoever you were.

I ran Titan for the very first time yesterday. I'm a newer player. I told everyone at the beginning that it was my very first time. They were patient with me, they explained the mechanics to me. Before they opened up, I cringed in fear of being called a newb, or being kicked or getting told to leave. This is years of conditioning from other games and MMOs making me believe that being new at something is frowned on. You guys apparently think otherwise. So to those people with me in regular old Titan with me yesterday, thank you. You've proven that WoW-culture hasn't tainted everything.

Looks like I'm sticking around here for a bit, for the community.

What made you guys get hooked on this game?

We still have plenty of people who look down on players with specific content experience. Fortunately a lot of the content, even up to the extreme primals and coil 1-4 can be completed with one or two people who don't know exactly what to do without much trouble, so there is room for leniency without sacrificing progress.

Well there is a difference between reading and taking advice, and heading in deliberately ignorant.

It really is a big difference. Other communities are so aggressive, it's a change to see people so eager to help you succeed.

The community generally got a lot better since the flavor of the month MMO hoppers started leaving and it's still improving.

Glad to hear of your experience, it enforces my belief that this community will feel like the 1.0 community one day

Glad you got some good people. To many in this game are jerks.

I've actually been really lucky to find a lot of helpful people who have answered every question I've posed, and gave me great tips on getting started here. I only had one negative experience -- the Gil turtle guildhest. Someone was deliberately killing it despite our screaming at him to stop. Other than that, it's been smooth sailing.

Of course there are jerks in every game, and there always will be. The thing that sets this game apart from the rest, I think, is that the ones that stay are the ones with similar interests. We're all here because we love Final Fantasy. That's a pretty good bond. FFXI was like that, and my brief stint in 1.0 was like that. I'm glad I chose to come back when I did -- and I'm bringing friends this time.
