Raise II and Rebirth exclusive to Conjurer.. am I being pigeon holed as a White Mage?

I'm not happy with the announcement of the new raise spells. I signed up for Conjurer based on the Black Mage elemental magic, not the Cure spell. It would have made more sense for Thaumaturge to get Rebirth since their deity is the god of death and life and they operate out of a church. I hope the dev team takes note that restricting Conjurer to White Mage is going to be a very unpopular route to take. They are better off leaving Mage paths open to both classes out of respect to the players for making a choice with the Armoury system when it was first released and sticking with it.

Here are the two new raise spells in case you didn't see:

    Raise II -New-
Restore the breath of life, reviving a KO’d target. Weakness and Brink of Death effects last for 1 minute.
    Learned: Conjurer, Rank 38
    Cast Time: 10s
    Recast Time: 2.5 min.
    MP Cost: 186
    Exclusive to conjurer.

    Rebirth -New-
Restore the breath of life, reviving a KO’d target. Target suffers no Weakness or Brink of Death effects.
    Learned: Conjurer, Rank 50
    Cast Time: 10s
    Recast Time: 30 min.
    MP Cost: 231
    Exclusive to conjurer.

I don't think it will be the case.

THM is still the better healer, CON will just be there with an extra raise if it's needed.

As long as it doesn't start a complete cool down when I change to CON, it will just be on my THM bar for when I need to switch to Raise on CON or any other job

As I said in the other thread... CONs need something. The class just sucks right now compared to THM.

I bet they redo both classes anyway so won't matter in the long run.

Originally when I read this, I too figured that conjurer would be white mage. Unfortunately, I'd prefer to play a white mage and yet I only have thaumaturge up (almost to 50!).

I have a strange feeling that casters, both black mage and white mage, are going to have to end up leveling both conjurer and thaumaturge anyway.

I feel the jobs are going to work like a toggle. You're going to have to turn them on and what will happen is that they will grey out spells and abilities and then give bonuses to others. A few additional spells might be unlocked that are exclusive to the job as well.

Which means, that both white and black mages will have to level up both conj and thaum because each has moves that are almost required for a blm/whm specialization. Which... again screws over magic users by making it double the work.

My above assumptions could be wrong, but I don't see many plausible options around it.

I expected them to completely redo conjurer and thaumaturge both.

It would also be great to know which classes are getting which jobs.... /cough community reps get on top of this please.

The non-magic classes will work the same though, and there's more than 2 of those.

And now people wonder why I was fighting so hard for Jobs to not be locked to the class that unlocked them. :P

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

People wanted class uniqueness, unfortunately with that comes specializations and roles they're outright better at. Because of this some classes end up being forced into a certain role simply because they're the best at it.

Thats all fine and dandy, But once your using a Specialization that they keep trying to classify as not being part of the Class but its own unique Specialization, then you no longer need to restrict that JOB to that Class. If the job is supposed to be that Special it should be able to stand on its own no matter what Class is attached to it. The class would just determine minor perimeters about how the Job is performed. IE The Difference between being a Heal Spam Tank and a Damage Dealing Tank to maintain hate.

It ends up working the same way that Race did in XI at that point. a Tarutaru Paladin is going to spam heals and shield skills to maintain hate because his health is much lower then other races and he has to maintain it at a higher percentage, while a Galka is going to spam shield and physical abilities. Only healing when his health drops suddenly.

But in XIV it would be say a Thaumaturge/Paladin taking the place of the Tarutaru, and a Gladiator/Paladin taking the place of the Galka.

That kind of diversity makes CHARACTERS unique which is more important then CLASSES being unique. At least to me.
