    FF11 is amazing because it introduced hard core PVE and game uniqueness and AION has a super efficient UI as well as incredibly fast super efficient game play and skill execution. WoW hit the ceiling utilizing every aspect that makes an MMO enjoyable hence it's enormous player base to speak for that fact and there are much much more.

    BUT WAIT

    Why would SE ever want to take in any one of those successful aspects? Apparently it's because they want to make a "Different Game"? well they sure as hell did lol... and it's not a pretty one at that.

    Agreed.

    I played FFXI for several years. Give me something new.

    That said, I think Yoshi-P and team are on the right track, as long as they can deliver what's been promised.

    When I first heard about FFXIV, I thought "Oh Yay! Everything I loved from FFXI, but getting rid of all the bad things from XI". I don't expect FFXI-2. I want a differnt world, with a different setting, with a different storyline and next gen graphics. However there were a lot of good things from FFXI that I feel sort of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" about. So did I want FXIV to be FFXI-2? No, but I did think it would be a spiritual successor to it, and was vastly disappointed that it was so completely different. Being different for the sake of being differnt is not necessarily a good thing. They should have taken all the knowledge they gained from FFXI and used it to make the perfect MMO. Instead, its like they completely disregarded that knowlege in favor of seemingly random ideas thrown together without regard to consequence. In so doing, they attempted to cater to a larger audience (that was not only unaware but really didnt care), in favor of alienating their existing fanbase. Same thing happened with "The Spirits Within". It was such a no brainer to come out with FF7 the movie, and cater to their fanbase. Instead they tried to cater to a larger audience, and lost money. I love SE and want this game to succede, but they need to get a clue and cater to their fanbase.

    example /equip main "wrightslayer" and it would equip now its /equip and you have to remember double words get " " and single words dont. Your asking for a Linkshell house? well thats like when i said i would like a mog house or a place that is our own place. That dident mean a mog house but something like one. So all in all you want what we all want a much better game that flows as easy as 11 did but isent anything like 11 and to that i agree 100%
    Do not think I read your thread, but these are things I am constantly hearing. I do agree things from FFXI had some good stuff like the party search function, mog houses, things like that. But people have been specifically asking for(example) mog house and moogles, when in this game if you started in Gridania, you would know it would not be like that. I am just asking like I stated at the bottom of my original post for not specifics like FFXI, but generalizations of it idea wise, and then maybe going into details.

    Why would SE make FF14 any different from 11? Look at ALL of the FInal Fantasy serious... THEY ARE ALL THE NERYKING SAME!!!!! Just different story lines and names and little crap like that...

    Final fantasy 11 was and still is more successful than 14 am I right?

    Why not take what Amsai said and just make it a "Better 11"

    No, they actually tried to make this less like FFXI, content/gameplay wise(ignoring classic FF things) and take aspects from different MMO's. That was something stated early on when the game was being made. However I do not think they were as successful at that as they wanted to be, but the game is improving as well as more people are comming back to game. So that is a good sign. I do think, like most people, game came out to early and it was pretty crappy at first, but the game has covered so much ground and is improving vastly.

    That is what I had said lol..

    AND they are improving the game by slowly bringing back FINAL FANTASY 11 game mechanics and features if no one has noticed... slowly but yet surely this game will revert back to it's 11 state.

    Ok maybe i missed read you and that last post you did i can kinda agree with to a certain extent. Doing something different isn't exactly a BAD thing its how the old team tried solving it. Yoshi-P is still doing things different but the way he is solving the problem is leading us(from reading his letters/interviews) to a better solution.

    FFXI had a lot of great ideas that can be used as inspiration for a lot of things. When people suggest ideas to come from XI I don't think the devs will read that and just rip the ideas right out of XI and put it in XIV. I think the feedback people give in regards to XI ideas making their way into XIV is more for inspiration. For example, I loved campaign and dynamis in XI and would love something similar in XIV, but I would be disappointed if they just copied them in. I'd like to see a dynamis but improved (something for people that enjoy large scale PvE) and campaign but improved (a soloable, rewarding, epic, and large scale pve battle).

    So I would agree and would hope the devs don't try and copy any ideas directly in. But using XI as an inspiration for ideas can't hurt.
