Now that I've come this far, I regret having read all this up til now.

Big picture: Regardless of the outcomes, your actions/words basically implied, "Until I am assured you can do your job, I'm going to prepare to do it". Sure, you're entitled to that feeling, but it does reflect poorly on you to simply go in believing others just can't do their job. I wouldn't enter a hospital and grab medical records or surgical tools and call it "assurance until I know records techs or surgeons can do their job".

Attacking the credibility of others who called you on this makes you look defensive. If you're truly great, you don't need to be defensive. And the grammar policing/educated stance is simply petty. Name-calling, insulting, and being holier-than-thou only detract from what I assume was originally meant to be a brag on your ability to operate outside of your class' defined scope of responsibilities. . . Good on you for that at least. I "tank" as a Bard, just for kicks and to see if it can be done. Join the club.
