I saw new player complain today

So I was at central shroud doing a fun fate farm for my atma...still at 0/12 by the way. I was doing a level 10 fate. Generally new players at level 10 nothing is synched they are in starting gear. This particular fate had mobs being two hit by everyone in there zeniths. The new player got upset we were killing everything so fast in the fates he couldn't get bronze. He was upset we all had mounts and by time he made to any fate it was just ending. He couldn't level with us. I feel kinda bad.....instead of letting these new players do fates and having them be soloable for less people attending they could level.

This is actually hurting new players I realized. Not only is this a waste of our time it's ruining other players times who want the fates. Yet we still have heard nothing about this from se.....sigh

    Welcome to the problem.

Atmas were introduced to get older players back into FATEs to help the new players. Unfortunately, it's worked so well that FATEs are, for the most part, completely unplayable, particularly at the lowest lvls.

Personally, I think this is the worst thing about the Atmas. I can deal with bad gathering mechanics, but I feel like a complete jerk when I help shut down the FATE circuit in lower levels.

This is actually one of the reasons why I pounded out a chocobo as fast as I could. So I could actually keep up with people going from Fate to Fate. I didn't have trouble getting damage down once I got there, but a lot of the time it was over before I could sprint across the map.

Basically, "well I figured out how to deal with a bad system so why fix it?" The point is SE has been trying to push FATEs hard from day one and they aren't especially good. They need to think about how to improve them rather than just shoe horning them into every aspect of the game.

I can appreciate the new player's frustration with trying to complete a FATE with so many Zenith's about, but why is a level 10 player even FATE grinding? And a new one at that? I recently went back and started a new class and made it to level 20 in two days without hitting more than 5 or 6 fates along the way. I must admit that I was plowing through a lot of it, and it took 6 or 7 hours those days (I was off work, this is atypical of my usual playing standard). I stuck with hunting logs and leves. He theoretically has story line quests and side quests galore to complete.

I don't fate grind but when I'm out and about and see one pop up I like to head over and participate. However, when there are so many people doing it and you arrive even a few seconds too late it's rather frustrating. When I'm leveling a character, fates help with waiting in instance queues. It's rather disheartening to see a fate pop and get there just as it ends. Maybe SE should add atmas to instances as well. It would break up the the lvl 50s to rng in different ways.

lvl 10 you have the hunting log, challenge log, hests, leves, duty roulette hest, 1st time hest bonus, and a good chunk of quest that gives good exp. fates are something i did if i came across them as i was making my way to objectives or quest starter locations. i dont think it really hurts their progress in any way. i think fate grinding for levels if you are purely new, isnt a good leveling source with all the resources available at a fresh start.

Saying "they could be making XP in a more efficient manner" doesn't alleviate the complaint. If that new low level player wants to get in on the FATE action, they should be able to participate in equal measure and have the same shot as a synced level 50. They cannot even benefit from having a group of high levels coming in and storming it, and follow them from FATE to FATE in hopes of getting some fast XP and maybe enjoying the hectic nature of the action.

Maybe they shouldn't have put the Atma drops in regions in starting zones, or restrict them to only the latter half of the zone, or something like that.

I didn't complain when I was at level 10 but I ground(grinded?) FATEs because I kept seeing them in the map. I didn't realize it was much more efficient to focus on the main storyline and just go back to the areas that I missed until I got frustrated because at 25 I still don't have a chocobo lol
