I've got that same issue. Once I try to got to the character selection, I get the 2002 lobby error message. Playing on the Phoenix server

This ALWAYS happens for me right after a major patch. Either I get 90k or 2002 bombed. I just want to know when the next hotfix is that will fix this...
There likely won't be one... it's been documented to be issues with flow control along the routes to Montreal, which is out of their hands and falls more under the purview of your ISP's Tier3 staff and NOC Admins to address. Granted, there have been capacity issues at SE's server/network levels and it could come into play on something like a legacy server if they are nearing capacity once more... but that was a long time ago when that was an issue and they've ramped things up considerably since then and they've been dogmatic about restricting transfers and new characters since then so capacity shouldn't be an issue again yet.
There is plenty of data out there pointing at issues along our routes. Many have resolved it by using VPN services to switch to cleaner routes and it solved their issues, while others have worked with their ISP's to pair them with alternate routes or different routing partners that have also resolved their issues. Until you can verify your routing is clean, you cannot rule it out as at least a big contributing factor. If it were solely an issue on SE's end, the forums would likely be crashing from the flood of complaints, which it clearly is not.
I see what you're saying and I have taken steps through my ISP to ensure my connection to the data centers and it has worked. But these 90k and 2002 issues of mine still persist and occur only after a new patch releases and subsequently resolves after the hotfix that usually accompanies a new patch. I don't even play as often as I used to so it's especially frustrating that when I do play stuff like this happens.
.....this better get fixed before my garden dies again because of bugs and emergency maintenance.
I managed to finally log in and save my garden but the game was unplayable, after each watering the plant animation there was a 10 or 20 second lag spike.

I am getting the same 2002 error and I live in Arizona; so it is not something that is specific to Montreal. Someone needs to look at all of these posts and provide us a fix for the issue.
My ISP didn't suddenly change routes to the datacenter, coincidentally with peak traffic on the affected datacenters....it's an SE issue.
I can log into other data centers but I can't into NA/EU. So something wrong with that data center.
SE you need to fix a few things here!
1: Client closing after a 2002 and 5006 errors.
2: Temp addition of lobby servers.
3: Prevent the 2002 errors once you are in the Q for your character server.
These main problems further add to the end user frustration and makes them want to seek elsewhere to spend their money and free time. I like most work full time and only have the "Prime-Time" hours to log in and enjoy the content provided. The perk of pre-ordering Heavensward was the early access. I have only been able to log in 3 times on 2 days after being booted once on a 90k error, only to find myself in an endless loop of 2002 errors. I hope you have some sort of safety net in palce for the actual launch on the 23rd.
Been trying to get in for two hours now getting 2002 and 5006 errors none stop. Reset my modem, flushed my system nothing. Can connect to a different server but not to the one I play on
