I also have encountered the 2002 error repeatedly since the latest hotfix patch for 2.38 that was released on October 09, 2014. Reviewing some of the latest forum activity it seems to not be an isolated incident either.

I've been trying to log on for the last half hour, I get hit with 2002 every time I hit start, on every data center. Haven't been able to log on once.

Same can't logon at all it all goes to 2002.

I've been getting this 2002 error since Thursday (October 30th), which is annoying because it was working fine on Wednesday. I know for a fact it's not an ISP problem as nothing has changed with them and I can still connect to every other game else just fine.

I am also having this problem. I just bought the game on 10/30/14 and I have yet to be able to log in. I constantly get this error

Okay, so I figured out MY problem, so I thought I would share it here:

It looked like my AntiVirus program wasn't on, so my windows firewall was blocking FFXIV from connecting. I noticed I didn't see the Norton icon when I checked my top corner and when it wasn't there, I opened it in the start menu. The icon showed up, I started FFXIV again and I connected in seconds.

I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it worked for me, so I thought I'd let you know. Firewall conflicts are so annoying.

What specifically are the problems you have? Installing issues? Problems getting the launcher to load? Errors during log-in? Disconnecting from the game? Details needed to determine if it's something new or more of the typical issues that PSN has been having since the PS4 launched:

The PS4 also has been having specific problems with the latest firmware as well. Tweet from last night:

We're aware of issues happening post PS4 2.00 firmware, including some freezes and boot errors. Working to resolve ASAP, will update soon.

So, there could simply be something going on at Sony's end that needs to be addressed.
