Leviathan's Wipe at 20%?

Anyone encountered the absolute wipe where you DPS too quickly and Levi just wipes you regardless of whether you activated the converter or not?

It has happened to me 3 times today and apparently you can't get levi below 20% before he changes phase to the last phase. If you force his hp to below 20%, he'll do a wipe to the team.

I thought it was just a bad bug, but after testing it several times it is more or less confirmed that it will wipe you at 20% if you dps too quickly.

I wonder if there is anyone out there who has been encountering this. It's kinda sad that this kinda checks are in place, another one was with Ifrit EX, DPS too fast, he wipes you with Hellfire.

It's similar to ifrit's nail, nothing new about it. If you dps him down too fast, he'll be forced to change phases, and thus he used tidal wave before the converter is up, it happened to us when we LB3 the spumes but the BLM only hit the frontal spumes, Levi's HP was so low that it forced the transition and we wiped.

Pushing Levi too quickly before the second shield is gonna cause him to use Enrage instead of the normal Tidal Wave, and shield doesn't help against that no matter how early it's up.

I really think enrages like this are a poor mechanic in a game where you can't see the boss's health as a percent. If the DPS are doing well, let them do well. DPS should really only have to hold back for things like threat, T6's Blight, Spumes, or to kill an add at a specific location/time vs holding DPS to drop a boss from 23% down to 20%. The former, provides visual queues and easily identified benchmarks for when to start/stop, while the hard percentage ones require parsers to do accurately, which SE doesn't want us to use.

Agreed. Cheap insta-wipe mechanics because you do "too well" are really lame.

Insta-wipes when players aren't following every caprices of the game designers in other fights are already bad enough, but this...

Not sure why mechanics like these are even in the game. It's only going to become more and more prevalent of a problem as time goes on and people get better geared, so it's not like it's a problem they can just ignore and hope it goes away.

If you don't want people to kill the boss too fast and skip mechanics, this could easily be accomplished by making the boss invulnerable at certain points. What baffles me is that the game already does this with some other fights; one of the more notable examples is Titan HM pre-heart, who cannot be damaged beyond a certain point prior to bringing the heart out, and sometimes your DPS will be "plinking" on him for a few seconds beforehand due to the fact he's in the middle of a bomb pattern and he's unable to leap up to do Geocrush while the bombs are exploding.

Doing well is subjective. I would hardly call dps doing well if they don't know how to control it.

For example, there is no effort in turning a tap to blast heaps of water out but it's a bit more effort to make it into a smooth fine stream.

SE first introduce that you have to learn how to maximize your dps, now they're telling you you have to be a master of your dps.
