I honestly wish the PvP was good, but after being a hardcore PvPer in other games I simply cannot like it here. It's nothing in comparison. The GCD just kills it for me and it's "growing pains" (aka the time it's taking to improve) is... extremely slow, as expected.
Another issue is I'm one of those fans of open world PvP, which I doubt will ever happen in FF14.
what do you guys expect? pvp in MMO's is usually pretty terrible anyways. i have yet to PVP in an MMO that was actually balanced and legit. then theres the MMO pvp community.... "OMG IM SO LEET I JUST WALL HACK TELEPORT KILLED YOUR NOOB ASS ROFLPWNED BITCH"
ya, ill pass
on the topic of FFXIV pvp specifically, i got to r6 and realized it was joke even by MMO standards

Actually, I see Frontlines as more like Military Exercises to get large groups of players together, each representing themselves, their FC's or their GC's and working on strategies that will hopefully help them in future wars against the Empire. No actual tension between the 3 City-States themselves, but going into it full tilt to get the most potential scenarios that could potentially occur in an actual war. Going along that same thought - it'd be kinda cool if they included some iconic NPCs for these Frontline battles as well.2.3 is looking to change that. Here is the new scenario, World was almost destroyed by Bahamut. The Garlean Empire threat stopped and the nations struggling to survive, it's only a matter of time before they turn on each other, a fact the Ascian are looking to exploit. Hence Frontlines.
Such as, let's say, if they make it so a GC takes particular interest over the the field, then maybe at some point you can actually go head to head against the Leaders of the GCs themselves.
Kassiekane Ravenheart uses One Ilm Punch.
>You take 368 damage.
>You lose the effect of Stoneskin.
