>.> None of what I said was about running from melee, it was about how they can easily interrupt your casting by simply stepping to the side behind a huge wall, plus theres ways around mages running.
Oh no there isn't, at least not for a tank lol :C. I was doing some PvP today and I simply couldn't touch the healer. He popped his sprint and got so far away that by the time I catched up, he used it again. I know this isn't WoW, but if you're a healer there and a warrior decides to charge you while you're alone... I feel fucking ridiculous running around as a Paladin trying to catch the healer, sprint should be something everyone could use in every situation, or consume all of the casters mana.
Run the opposite direction :P Now before you say, they could too. Someone else in your pt could do the same, cut them off, maybe try stunning as they go by. Then again, with how people in mmos are these days, no one cares about teamwork, only me me me lol
It's SE, did we really expect them to be good at PvP, I guess you never experience ballista in FF11 OP.
Wellfooled and Gesser pretty much made a simple point about PvP. All these complaints on how unbalanced a particular class/job is, only exist in low ranks (this will be fixed in a coming update where you immediately get all the skills), where people are still working out on how PvP actually works. Once you get more experience, and get more PvP skills, you'll see how balanced and how steep the learning curve is, the fun factor is subjective to each individual, but for me, who is only rank 14, while I know I'm not as experienced as the others, I can definitely see how PvP just keeps getting better and better as you rank up.
5 matches isn't enough to judge PvP, I'd say even 100 matches isn't enough to judge PvP, especially if you're only after the wolf marks for glamours. PvP can be a lot of fun, but only if you work hard for it, for some, getting to rank 40 is gonna be a grind, but for me, it's just a trophy you get, for working hard and having fun along the way.
On a side note, you might want to do level 40 pvp first, else you'll get destroyed by rank 30+ (don't know if they changed it yet, haven't bothered to look lmao)
Why would it take over 100 matches to judge how bad pvp is when other mmos you know right away if it's good or not? The fact that less than one percent of the population even pvps and that no one that I know of does it at all should be a good indicator that it's terrible.
That might simply be down to apathy though. I for one don't care about PvP, so I don't play PvP. I can't speak for how balanced or imbalanced it is simply because I've never once set foot in the arena. I doubt I'm alone either. There's probably others who simply look at PvP with indifference and don't really consider it worth their time.
That so few PvP might not be an indication that it's bad, but just that people don't care. Either way it baffles me that they're releasing Frontlines given how empty PvP seems to be.
Oh I know there're many players that don't care for pvp at all but the players that I know that do enjoy pvp from other mmos are not even doing it at all. You should still see pvp groups setup once in awhile on PF and shouts for a more pvp focus ls/fc once in awhile. On my server at least no one ever mentions pvp at all.
I've played dozens of PvP-oriented games, but I think that's really the point. This game isn't very PvP centric. Games like DC Universe Online, World of Warcraft or Perfect World have PvP at their core gameplay. Even Guild Wars 2 has a huge PvP core to its gameplay, despite the central game revolving around PvE.
FFXI was PvE, FFXIV is PvE. It's going to be hard to coax players into it without PvE rewards.
