As a male I can see that you are over thinking it.to people who say "I rather not look at a guys ass."
is this honestly true to you guys? xD
there is a lack of ass this whole entire game. my ass is just as flat as any others.
hence why ppl are trying their hardest to get some ass in this game lmao coz it's almost non-existent.
A male mentality is blunt and direct not the same as a female mentality that focuses on minor details and tries to depict meaning where none exists.
In between the torso and thigh is where both the butt and crotch are located.
If a man says "I rather not look at a guys ass" he means he doesn't want to look at a guys ass. He would rather see a females ass regardless of the size and eroticism you're trying to conclude from because the only meaning to be had is the one stated "I rather not look at a guys ass".
A couple people on this thread said they've had bad experiences playing female chars and choose not to anymore. I don't have to prove they're telling the truth just because you believe something only exists if you've experienced it firsthand. Also, when I said that it's a problem, I wasn't implying that it's something so widespread and awful that something needs to be done about it. Maybe that was poor wording on my part, but I was just saying that it happens and some women choose to play male characters to avoid it.

The fact that it's mainly feminism the ideology (not feminists, the people) who promote it, means nothing, except that I see it a lot.
See your quote below:
You never said feminism the ideology, you said feminists everywhere think inappropriate advances are 'rampant'. Maybe that's my fault for saying "some advances" instead of "some women" by mistake, but the point still remains that you think the argument is invalid because you never receive advances on FFXIV and that you believe it's just something spread by feminists.Originally Posted by SchalaZeal

And it still had absolutely nothing to do with my original reply to the OP. If you want to believe players never receive unwanted advances on MMOs, that's fine. But I was giving the OP some insight as to why some women play male characters. I never said all women or most women.
Fair enough. I tend to be a little defensive when people say things like "Sorry you played crappy games then" as if it somehow counters my argument or justifies the inappropriate whispers I've received. I don't care about the advances because I'm capable of blocking people who make them and moving on. However, some people internalize experiences like that and choose to avoid a repeat occurrence.Originally Posted by SchalaZeal

Assumptions are not absolutes.
Yeah, as a male I spent hours looking at groom magazines with my friends and talking about how much I was looking forward to my wedding day. Oh wait, I had that type of discussion with my friends about.... Never.
Marriage in MMOs seems to be all about the ceremony (dress, tux, flowers, words spoken), which IMO, is a more of a female fantasy.
The percentage of males, outside of hardcore RPers, that are interested in MMO marriage is very small. Therefore my assumption that the parties are two females.
The percentage of females interested in dancing naked in the middle of a crowded area is small. Therefore I assume the naked female is a male.
because my character is from the v1, at that time miqo'te was girl only. plus when ARR did come i did receive 2 vial for change sex and race... but my character have a feminin name then... i keep it like this hehehe
How does this question pop up all the time? It's quite simple.I've met a few on FFXIV, and I'm so curious...Why play a girl character in game if you are a guy IRL? I guess the same question for girls who play guys. Not looking to troll, just genuinely wondering.
I guess because I view my character as a representation of myself, I play a guy in game because I am a guy IRL. So I'd like to understand the reasons why others would make a different choice.
As a guy I like to look at the female form. If I have to look at something for months or years, I want to look at something aesthetically pleasing.
I remember an old MMO which assigns your character's sex based on account sign up details. basically, during the 1st few months most people assumed everyone were honest during sign up. and some boys were angered when they found out that cute mage's handler was actually male.
as a female gamer, I find stereotypes annoying and have decided nearly half a decade ago that I will choose my character's sex based on my mood and somehow over the years I didn't feel like participating in the guessing game so I usually roll a male.
because after all, WHY NOT?
I'm a girl playing a male. MMOs sort of bind you to stare at someone's back for hours, days, weeks, months, years (the 1st person view really isn't dynamic enough especially in XIV). Sooo.. if I've got to stare at a butt all day, might as well have it be a butt I find attractive.
I can't help but see this in my head whenever I see posts like this..
For some people it's just harmless role-playing. For some I'm sure it's part of some deeper psychological issues. Either way it's none of our business in the end.
