Anybody play on a JP server and notice the % of Japanese players who play female characters is obscenely large? I understand people wanting to play the opposite gender but in Japan it seems to be ridiculously skewed toward females. Almost every duty finder party I end up with that's all JP but me is all female.
I'm curious if the actual cross-gendered ratio is similar to the west - but with more actual F-IRLs also playing females in Japan, assuming the game is more popular with women there.Anybody play on a JP server and notice the % of Japanese players who play female characters is obscenely large? I play a dude when I'm a girl simply because
a) he's got a really cute butt, and I don't want to be staring at a girl's.
b) playing a dude means I don't get nolifers hitting on me since they assume I'm a dude.
You don't say.

Girls play guy characters too, doofus. I never play a human in an rpg if I can help it. "But you are a human! That don't make no sense!" X-D
I seldom think of the character I'm playing as my own avatar, but instead a character in a story I'm watching/creating. Could be a girl or a guy, a frog that talks or an elf-teddy bear (I miss taru).
I like to watch women and girls murder things.
Because I'm confident about who I am in real life. I don't have to make my toon an e-persona of everything I wish I was offline.
Most people jack up their character and give them enormous muscles and make them look fancy because they're trying to compensate for their otherwise lacking real life persona
And like someone said earlier... I'm not going to stare at a dudes ass for hours. I don't even stare at my Female Hyur... but I do think the glamour I gave her is cute.
Just for the sake of being provocative... you aren't just looking at a character, you're controlling a character. You control most of her movements, attire, hair, and expressions. This could imply either that you're projecting some of yourself into the character and/or you enjoy making a female puppet for your viewing (and exploiting) pleasure. The first thing creeps out some folks, but I don't think that it should. I do find the second thing mildly creepy, though.
