In theory they could just have open-world versions of the dungeons that aren't quite as scripted but have some tough monsters. Could be fun.

Stupidity. It would just be a farming vile and plvling spot. It would destroy roulette kill quest and generally cause balance mahem.
Doing this will kill development resources spent on other stuff.
I may not agree with the type of gaming at times but even I can see the wasted resource to do something better spent elsewhere.
This isn't diablo where you solo the same thing over and over until nothing is left to get.
Didn't realize mmorpg stands for massively me only role playing game.
Turning those dungeons to be soloable will mean there'll be community challenges like solo speed clear! I like the idea.
Making low level dungeons soloable would turn the DF into a wasteland because high level players would solo them instead of joining a group. Level 50 quests and Animus books make you re-do low level dungeons in order to help out low level players. Removing the level sync would render that purpose moot.
totally disagree with you,sorry

Might be interesting like in XI once got high enough level you could go exploring places solo that you couldn't go before alone but that world was actually worth exploring. Half the dungeons in XIV I never want to set foot in again unless I have to.
as long as all drops and gil/exp gain is removed then sure. the only thing you get is a timer for a time ranking thing and nothing else.
