Yeah it came out longer than I thought. I personally leveled all the above classes in 11 as a career soloist or a pseudo White Mage, long before astral burn and such existed and they would always be disregarded over other jobs that provided necessary elements to a group in the end. They couldn't provide anything in special 11 besides some solo action and very likely won't add anything special to 14 if they didn't change drastically somehow. Also highly specialized classes will end up the main classes to play in the end with all other classes becoming a simple prerequisite to rank up simply for usable skills and traits to share in 14. A pet specific class would have a extra something that no other class could have to be on equal footing with it.

They can easily make it fit with the lore. In FFXI there was only one shiva/ifrit/garuda etc, and they got around it by giving out their power in the form of 'avatars', the same could be done here.
In addition to that, even if summoner doesnt fit perfectly how does that affect the other jobs? mammets are already in the game which would be awesome PUP pets (or engineer or whatever), and we have plenty of different beast species with more to come hopefully.

Also, necromancers have been in final fantasies (V and XI at least, Lamia were often necromancers and there were a few NPCs you could interact with who were too. I believe those Aqueducts in CoP supposedly had a necromancer in them) before, that said I'd much prefer to see some more interesting and uniquely-final fantasy pet jobs first.

Though they easily can, they won't, it just doesn't go with FF.

In FF3, there was a quest where you sneak into a Bahamut nest and inside it, you could find eggs and hatchlings.
One thing that would be great will be to be able to raise one from a hatchling.
So, this would be more a gatherer and crafting class than a battle class.

At least you can expect to have for one time, something different from EQ system.
