Your ideas are not bad at all. But what makes classes with pets seem out of place in this world? That just baffles me, I see no reason whatsoever why they would not fit? o_O;;

No thank you. I LOVE SMN, BST, PUP, and DRG and will advocate and petition that they are in FFXIV
SMN, BST, PUP, and DRG ftw!

The only problem i see is if all classes can summon a pet they would be so over powered. Not sure how to fix it but that seems to be the opnly problem i see with every class able to summon.
GIT OUT WITH THIS GARBAGE >
I ALSO SEEM TO HAVE HAD MY BILLY MAYS KEY PRESSED WHEN I POSTED THIS!
Check my "SE we need a Summoner class!" post in General Discussion. My LS and I did a theory crafting session about Summoner. We all came to the conclusion that Advanced classes would have to have class specific skills.
Basically SMN skills would be less potent and less reliable when used by other classes.

This problem is solved easily by allowing pet jobs/classes be like the DRG in XI where onlt the DRG was able to summon a wyvern and nobody subbing drg could. So in this case advanced jobs would have specific abilities others couldnt use(which would also make classes more unique).

I'd love to see a Necromancer class. Pull up skellies from the ground and summon devilets.
Pet classes in Final Fantasy 14 just seem highly difficult to facilitate is all. Lore and history seems to suggest that Eikons are higher beings worshiped by the beast tribes. Ifrits is the only shown Eikon so far but its size alone in the game easily compares to the size of the biggest monsters in Eorzea like Great Buffalo. There seems to be only one Ifrit(Amal'ja), one Shiva(Sylph), one Leviathan(Sahagin), one Titan(Kobold), one Garuda(Ix'ial) and one Bahamut in the world from whats suggested so far. Summoning them at all seems to be a taboo act with each Eikon nearly at war with each other. The developers to just tossing all this out to please fans and giving mini versions to every player to control freely is just hard to see happening.
Game balance with pet mechanics are incredibly difficult to design with so many possible variables to think out in a game like Final Fantasy 14. When thinking of all the viable uses the pet jobs offered in Final Fantasy 11, the ones that come to mind are mostly abuses and violations. MPK, Astral Burns and scripted Puppet Bombers are probably enough reason discourage developers from creating possible future unforeseen abuses for players to exploit.
Dragonkin in Final Fantasy 14 seem to be the second common enemy among the people and beast tribes of Eorzea. The first common enemy being the Garleans. Having a class to work alongside dragonkin would be another unlikely situation.
For Dragoon, the signature moves could be Jump I, II, III, Lancet I, II, III, Dragon Breath I, II, III with a lance as a weapon. This hardly covers the skill per every two level requirement that a Disciple of War would have. Would summoning be available to other classes? Beastmaster would have to live with Charm, Call Beast, Reward I, II, III, IV and pretty much as well. Attack, heel, release and such wouldn't be likely skills to have a II or III version at all. With so few available skills to use it would be incredibly hard to design a unique and usable class at all. Even filling the skill sets of these classes with weapon related skills and actions won't really make them a pet class anymore.
Pet classes in 11 were really second rate classes for the longest time. Do people really want these so bad even if they were poorly designed? Monster AI just do not function the same and the issue of territories comes to mind. Even if i can force a monster to leave its territory while charmed, it would likely run away without stop all the way to where I brought it from when I release it. I just don't know what it is about the pet jobs that players are asking for if not the pet part which my idea seems to be a compromise of.
tl;dr: Pets classes are hard to add without rewriting the current gameplay, lore, battle and monster system completely.

I think a Summoner class in this setting of Final Fantasy would only be able to ask for a "Blessing" Eikon. No having Carby pull because the Ranger is tired of pulling. (Yes there is a funny story behind that one that happened in Quifm).
@ Hotohori Wall-o-text much? o.O
I'll just add, I really miss my BST. That is all.
