Suspicious Activity on my account? O_o

Alright, so I just got home from university, then turn up the PS3 and log on FF14, but then as I insert my password, i get a prompt saying that suspicious activity was detected on my account and that I should go change my password.

I was just about to scream internally "OMFG I'VE BEEN HACKED D:" so I went and follow the link provided and thus resolved the issue by changing my password, but now I ask to you.

Has it happened to anyone else or is it just me? I really hope no damage was done to my account...

Get a Authenticator or download the one time password app and this will never happen again.

Whenever you change locations or computers it does this unless you have an authenticator.

You don't even have to change locations or computers. Every time we rebooted my wife's computer it would do this to her until she set up an Authenticator.

Happens to me all the time. I use my cable providers free wifi quite a bit at work and when I do I get this and then when I go home and log on I get it again. I think you get it anytime you log on with a different IP address.

Any time your IP address changes significanly you will see this unless you use an authenticator (either the token or the app).

It's an attempt to combat rmt compromising accounts, with this system, in theorey once rmt manage to log onto someone elses account, it will instantly lock the account thereby preventing the unautherised access.

Yeah, I used to get this every time I reset my computer while we had a dynamic IP. No damage done to your account, I literally had it happen every day for a month and my account is fine =P

Like changing one's modem? Ironically, I got the message after plugging in my new modem, so does that have anything to do with it?

I'm not sure if all modems do it, but I know I had one that would reset my IP address every time it got unplugged.
