I just got dumber

If it would be server based, there would be one server with 10.000 people on it and the rest of the two million subsribers would live on the other one.
Exactly,
Thus ending the debate. SE would clearly see what it needs to do. Quietly merge the servers back, and never ever bother listening to any person who comes on here and says.
"T9 was too easy, I beat it already!!!! I already got my loot!!!"
"Relic was too easy I already got it!"
"I have to unsubscribe"
Meanwhile that same individual is in reality probably not even fully geared out of T9, probably not Zenith on every Job Class they play and probably not going to be. They just want something specifically to complain about in the wake of people just playing and enjoying their game.

I would question the 2 million subscriber number. Given the how the, typically, more populated areas look during peak times, I would better guess that this number is of units sold with the free month, rather than 2 million active subscriptions.
The "Hardcore" server would either be almost empty or, it would be full of the same kind of people that start PFs with "WEEKLY CLEAR!! ONLY JOIN IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!" and then proceed to wipe non stop until the group disbands....
Right.
It's all a sad joke. An illusion woven by the interweb. FFXIV was just fine the way it was in the system they originally thought of, which is clear due to the amount of subscriptions they boast about.
Why they decided to make an abject paradigm shift into Tanaka style content is beyond me but they need to either make it so that the average player can enjoy all content of the game, while the Hardcore player is justly rewarded for their greater time spent (the Tank Mount was a good example and small gesture that really meant a lot to tanks that faced higher content consistently).
Or they need to just separate the kids who can't play nice with one another and end this forever..

I honestly feel that grindy and casual content can coexist. Tanaka is still around, and you know that plenty of players on the forums are pining for the experience they had in 1.0, or some elements of it, to come back. People that don't have enough time to get something within a couple days, that's fine- They can set a goal and allot some time each day to work on getting it. They have always been able to do this with many MMOs before, why not now?Why they decided to make an abject paradigm shift into Tanaka style content is beyond me but they need to either make it so that the average player can enjoy all content of the game, while the Hardcore player is justly rewarded for their greater time spent (the Tank Mount was a good example and small gesture that really meant a lot to tanks that faced higher content consistently).
People that have way more time may get it faster, but consider how much time they choose to sink into the game. Maybe they also got lucky, so what? Do you get pissed off at people who win scratch tickets? Seriously.
Everyone has their own style of play and their own time to play. SE is brave enough to try to add content for everyone to enjoy, as many said they should be doing. Well, they are. The fundamental issue is that some people can't just deal with all elements of the game not being catered to their liking or play-style, casual or hardcore.
If you ask me, they need to [explicative] get over it, regardless of their preferred play-style. ("World revolves around me" syndrome.)

100% agree with you. Variety is key to the game staying healthy. People cannot comprehend that all content isn't made for just them. This new content X isn't how I like it, better whine about it non stop until it changes to something I do like. It is absurd, people really do need to get over themselves. This game/world would be boring as hell if it only catered to one type of player.I honestly feel that grindy and casual content can coexist. Sorry for mincing your words a little, but this.
As much as any "Hardcore" would hate to admit it, this game needs casual players to sustain it.
For the same reason, as much as "casuals" hate to admit it, this game also needs the hardcore players to sustain it and therefore content to also keep them playing.
