PS4 Disc Requirement

I didn't use the free upgrade because I wanted to retain the right to play on PS3, so I bought the retail PS4 version and I noticed this.

A bit late for this now but you could have saved yourself both hassle and money by upgrading PS3 -> PS4 and then purchasing another (much cheaper) PS3 copy of the game. Unfortunately - there is not much you can do about that now. You can try to uninstall game and downloading it from PSN store instead but I'm not sure if that would help or not.

Someone recommended this to me, but I'm an avid FF collector (hell, my kids are named Zack and Elena...) and I wanted a physical PS4 copy, as it has much better case artwork.

In fact, had the PS4 CE items not been available to PS3 CE owners, I'd have bought a second CE just for them.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can cleat some things up for me. I have a physical copy of FFXIV on PS3. When I set up the game after entering the product code in the PSN store, I was left with a button to download the game directly to the PS3. So if I understand this correctly, I have a physical copy and a digital copy? If so what is the point of the game disc if I'm prompted with a digital download?

Disc is only there for the box on the shelf to actually have something inside XD
Its a digital copy on disc.

Digital copy is the game.

There is no point to the disc really. The game is so vastly different than the copy that is on the disc anyway since you are really just downloading the new game anyway.
