Just here casting a vote. I think it's too low as well. r25-30 would suffice for me. The instance starts at 30 (right?), so even at 30 does not seem too bad imo.

500 cp which isn't hard to get then it was lowered to 10 cp. On top of that the tutorial gives you a level 5 earing that had 10 reraise charges not to mention velantiones day had the heart wands which also had forms od raise/reraise. Plus there was the level 24 earings with reraise.
Exp/sp down isn't giving a challenge. And that just creates the PL thing ffxi had. Remember I did say 99% of all parties had a PL. Even with a whm/healer this was from 1-60+ Not to mention that whm wasn't the only raiser rdm and scholer got them also.
You guys are not asking for a challenge that is fun. You're asking for a tediouse nich game.
part 2 just to furyher what I mean
aAsking for too many penalties does not make for a fun game. That is asking for a tedious game. I want to play a fun game @ ps3 launch. Not a game I want to toss my controler at. We have a decent penalty coming. There is nothing hard about exp loss or death. This is an mmo there is no "game over" no matter what you get up and try again. Death adds nothing but a mortality to our characters.
Not having an exp down dowsn't make it easy. And even still easy and hard are subjective to the individual. If this game to you is easy, find a different game. Buy games that fit your style, not force a game to fit you. Games above all else are ment to be fun. Win or lose.
I do not need death to have any meaning to want to avoid it. I'm a gamer death is bad. I do not need any form of penality to want to better myself. I died my share of times in ffxi and ffxiv. I didn't sweat the exp lose. And infact I hated getting power leveled. Because i felt like i wasn't going to learn my jobs.
I went beyond the thinking of having max dps for the jobs I chose. I wanted to imprive the timing of my skills, to do a decent amount of my skills during each fight. But timed well enough to not steal hate from the tank. Which isn't want people started to do. They did their skills to the point of stealing hate from the tank. I personaly thought it was cocky to do so. As well as pointless, because in the end, they cried or got upset that they died. I knew people who left a group after one death, and say the group is bad. I think ppl in ffxi relied to heavy on getting power leved and only grouping for the sake of leveling. It was like they feared death too much to see it as just bad and not use it to learn. If you only win, you never learn your true limits.![]()
Sorry, I didn't read all the posts, anyway here is my 2 cents.
Now you will get durability penalty for returning when you are KO'ed. I think, in new midlvl raids it will be very important to revive party members...
Well... Revive at 14 rank maybe is not good for hilvl players, but it's not so bad, the game is changing.
how does lvl 14 raise effect hi levels? by the time jobs come out and people enforce its use, there will not be any cross class ability setting you have to stick with your given skills.Sorry, I didn't read all the posts, anyway here is my 2 cents.

to add here is the thing about death in ffxi. People didn't avoid death by getting better they or used death to get better. They did everything they could to cheat death. getting powerlevels for starters, having non healing jobs be healers. No one used death to get better. So making death meaningful will not do anyone any good since it will just make people have power levelers in group leveling. Which has a domino effect. People got PLs because of others who "sucked" at playing ffxi. And thought death was the worst possble thing and waste time, That 1 death meant the party was bad. Finding work arounds to cheat death for the max exp/sp and hr is isn't improving your skill in a game or wit your class/job.
Death is a big part of character growth. Since this is a virtual game and we do not suffer actual damage to ourselves in person, death is the only way we can learn what to do and what not to do. Without a fear of death, without that danger element, the game becomes boring, even more so than it is now. It's like closing your eyes or not even bother looking at the screen and just keep pressing one button and beat the game that way, kinda like crafting now.
It's also a big part of the adventure element in the game. Running around exploring places with high level monsters, doing your best to not get caught, that is a lot of fun. Why? Because it is dangerous and because you could die. The whole time you are sweating, stressed, twitching, and hoping that you make it because it is a lot of work wasted if you just ended up dying. It gets you excited. It's the reason people watch horror movies. Without much of a death penalty, sure you can still explore just not quite as thrilling. You could care less if you lived or die because you can just teleport there and walk that short distance again. Without pain, without suffering, we would not need heroes in the world.
Oh, if you are wondering why I haven't responded to this thread since this morning, it is because I actually played the game, had a linkshell party, and had a lot to do, which is more than what I can say for people who roam this forums all day long who doesn't even play the game but seems to have a lot of opinions about it.
14 is fine by me
i played the game i played ffxi dyne. WE GOT PL'ED AFTER COP WAS LAUNCHED 99% OF PARTIES HAD THEM.
(not screaming just making it noticable) I would be playing it now also if my laptop handled it well. I tried it didn't. Not that anyone talked
also fear of death is not a challenge. You just simply do not wish to die. Death in mmo is nothing more then something to slow you down.
I didn't care if I died in ffxi. Only elitists who had effed up proroties whined about it. And even still there was always a PL'er. So chances are no one died. Dyne you really do not understand the concept of death in a game. You are in my honest opinion. Over complicating the subject. Death in mmo is like faloling off a horse when learning to ride, triping over your dance shoes when trying to learn how to dance. You do not need to fear it to learn frm it. Death in games never actually had a meaning. It was just a game over. I've been playing games a good 20 years. And had enough death in my life to fully understand it.
