    Materia transmutation feedback / suggestion

So basically it's to suggest to redo the whole thing (I'm sorry, I do feel bad for suggesting something like that):
    1. Get rid of all the materia that nobody wants, because they're useless since they add an effect that is so minimal it basically has no effect at all. (Elemental resist, status resist, etc...). Having these useless materia in your game doesn't enhance your game in any good way.

If you don't want there to be a 100% chance to receive a "good" materia from soulbinding then add a cracked materia version.

    2. Materia transmutation: allow it to upgrade the tier of a materia. Two different types of recipe examples: Strength Materia tier II = 5 * Strength Materia tier I or Strength Materia tier II = Strength Materia tier I + 10 * Cracked Materia tier I.

Tier III , IV materia recipes could require more of the lower tier materia.

I think this suggested system would be a lot more enjoyable and would actually improve the game / make it more enjoyable than what was currently added and has no added benefit at all.

This really isn't necessary. Just making the materia roll limited to only the same materia categories as the ones input. So, for instance, a bunch of stats materia gets you randomly rolled stat materia. Put a bunch of gathering materia, and some elemental materia in at the same time, and you could get both.

Making it roll from absolutely any materia completely defeats any kind of purpose the system could possibly have. You're literally just throwing materia away.

I think it would be a bit better if the amount of materia needed was reduced. Maybe 3?

no, just remove the worthless materia.

all of the best gear can't have materia on it so even if they just added a vendor that sold all Tier 5 materia for 1 gil, it wouldn't make a difference whatsoever.

honestly the materia creation system just sucks anyhow. It's a great idea in theory, where old, useless gear has a purpose: to be turned into materia. Unfortunately, the result is just people running around in crappy gear (instead of the high level stuff they've been working to get) in order to spiritbond. Not fun.

Diablo was smart enough to already solve this sort of thing by phasing out magic find gear via the paragon system. Too bad the FFXIV team didn't learn the same lesson.

Well the FFXIV team is still a "young pup" that needs to grow up, but I think the main point is to remove useless items. It takes up an unnecessary amount of data from the game just for doing nothing.

Posting this here because it might be related.

I just converted an aetheryte ring into a Strength Materia III. Is that a thing? Is that supposed to happen? Or have SE accidentally mixed something up with how the materia roll works?

It's like that since release. My explanation for this is, that the ring has +binding and so it doesn't count as a crafting ring, so you can get everything out of it.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll be making more electrum rings then.

    Hi !

I would like understand one thing . I know that the result of a transmaterialisation is totally random ( a mix of strengh , vitaily and accuraccy can give a control materia ) but i think it s not random for the tier .

I ve done some test with tier :

    I + I + I + I + I = I
    II + I + I + I + I = I
    II + II + II + II + II = II

    per example if y a want have a tier 3 materia , i m oblige to put 5 materia tier 3 ?

    Or a mix III + III + II + I + I can give me a III ?

    thank you

It seems like you can mix tiers, I put in 3x Tier 3 and 2x Tier 1 and got a Tier 3. It's probably weighted toward the average tier with some variance.
