Switching between servers

My girlfriend and I are about to start playing this game. I'm playing on ps4 and she's playing on PC. Currently her PC is being repaired and should be shipped back soon, but I kinda want to get started on this game. She already decided what server in the Aether data center she wants to play on, but I forgot to ask her and she cant really check since her PC is down. If I pick the Aether data center and pick a random server, when she lets me know what server she wants to play on, can I transfer my character to that server or will I have to make a new one?

You can, but it isn't free.

What I would do is start now, but play around with the classes and find the one you like, and when your girlfriend gets her PC back, make a new toon on her server and commit to that as your main. Essentially just play expendables between now and then. A couple of days won't make a difference in progress. Seriously. You'll breeze through 1 - 15 in a day or two, even faster if you already know what to do. (Plus I'm sure she can help you play catch-up.)

If she knows her character name, you can search for that name on the Lodestone (use the search bar in the upper-right) and see what server that character is on. Of course, if you do this you need to hope there's no players with the same name but if you know what servers are in the Aether datacenter you can narrow it down.

Why is she set on the server she chose? she can't remember its name, so it can't be that important?

in any case, phone her while you're picking your server and go through the list and let her pick.

Are you posting from a PC? If so she could use your PC and go to the Mog Station and log into her account, all her character names with the server they are on will be listed there.
