im also not happy about the games direction tbh.
The animus weapon is only one part though.
No matter what content we get its either
1) super easy and short, like all new dungeons are
2) based on AOE circle evasion - primals - which just don't work for too many people, yet locking them out or frustrating them. And it's no fun at all just to memorize and time
things that didnt happen yet - it's the only mmo i've ever played that works like that, yet doesnt get the servers going good enough to handle it for most players. I have no problem with any other mmo.
3) the lockout for a little bit new content is a slap in the face for a P2P game. 1 week. that is beyond me. And it divides the community more and more.
4) gear gets outdated way too fast - and even better, the way SE designs content, most gear/content is outdated the very second it comes live....
5) the main mission in the 2.2 update was just plain BAD.
so you wanna progress? soldier cap at 450, - see you again next week
so you wanna progress? content lockout coils, see you again next week OR sorry i already did it ,i cant enter... etc. etc.
so you wanna progress? grind dungeons (which are too easy and predictable to be fun after the 3rd time) and get anima weapon, YEY.
You wanna do primals? Nobody does them anymore since all are farming leviX
if you are not on Levi already then no chance for you to progress through the lag VS Player- primal x fights.
Due to the extremely fast progression. I just wonder what happens to new players. Nobody wants to do things with them. Ive seen people leave dungeons cause ppl are not geared enough (enough for the dungeon but not enough for them...)
I've started many mmos like 2-3 years after the release, yet i had fun doing the content (all of it) and could progress and get in line with higher lvls.
The games content is designed to be outdated too fast. Why? i really don't get it. It's really bad design if content is not balanced so its useful for a longer time.
There are other games which offer 3-4-5 way of endgame progression, MEANINGFUL ways. They all have a grind component in them, but mostly challenges, either in group, raids, or solo.
ARR is grind (with cap) and content lockout (WEEK).
And it still isnt better. That is really bad. One thing i will def. never do when i come back after the expansion: pay 6 months in advance haha

well OP, if you played SWTOR then you know how badly BioWare Austin treats their subscribers and nickel and dimes the hell out of them all every moment they can. Fact is, there is always going to be something at some point a Studio will come up with and those who don't like it. The question is, how game breaking is the experience? and How long will it last?
There is also something called morals. SE still has them and treats their subscribers with some honor. Something I can truly say BioWare Austin/EA does not do. AT ALL! Not after the rise of the Cartel Coin in the TORtanic.
So,
With that, I say try Subscribing to something else. You'll find something equally wrong there too, eventually. But which wrong can you live with? CONTINUED next post

CONT... I draw the line at Mediocrity, lazy designers and developers that allow just "good enough" elements to grace their game worlds, and gouging/nickel and diming Subscribers where that becomes more important and crucial than your Subscriber base satisfaction. I would leave for things like that. But thats not FFXIV. So with that you should leave for the right reasons. Not short lived ones because you don't like how something in game works to increase your weapon iLEVEL. Because you'll only miss out if its a game you really like otherwise. I don't think you feel like you're being taken advantage of by the Studio, right?

CONT 2... As I've said, you have to draw the line somewhere. But one should make sure it's a worthwhile reason. Do you feel it's a worthwhile reason?
I mean leaving an MMO that you spent a lot of time time, money and energy in sucks. But.
Being a Star Wars universe fan all my life, and leaving SWTOR because of BioWare Austin/EA's idiocy was a difficult decision. They did it to themselves, and by the time beta came out it was far too late to do anything about it. The talent or lack of, and the road map was already in place. No matter what the fans did or said to help out. Now they can slowly sink like their sister ship did in 1912. I don't see all that in FFXIV. Maybe 1.0 but not ARR.
If FFXIVARR was anything like SWTOR then I would leave too.
