If you beat a hard dungeon/raid you naturally get the better loot. If any person could get there hands on the loot, then there wouldn't be much point in running Coil/EX.

    imagine this scenario.

    2 people work at the same job
    Paul works 40 hours a week + overtime
    John works 10 hours a week and regularly calls in sick
    Paul gets a raise and promotion
    John gets laid off

    was Paul "entitled" to that raise? yes
    was John treated unfairly? no

    now apply this logic to FFXIV....

    i see alot of johns in this thread

    Hardcore don't want GRIND, they want challenge. GRIND is mind numbing for all player base if there is no challenge involved, prime example FATE, a grind with no challenge.

    You can't keep Casual and Hardcore happy because casual wont like Hardcore getting good gear because they want the same thing, without doing what hardcores are doing.

    If you make two path where both obtain the same gear, where one path is easy and one is hard, people will just take the easy path, its human nature.

    No matter how hardcore you are, if you boss gives you an option. Work 1 day and take this pile of money, or Work 5 days for the SAME pile of money.

    Its clear what they will choose.

    Reward should be equivalent to the difficulty(difficulty does not mean long or grind)

    ^^^

    basically this.

    one funny thing ive noticed is you dont see "hardcore" players crying about casual content being added to the game. yet anytime SE adds something in for them the casuals bring out the torches and pitchforks and start screaming "unfair"

    i mean really tho, there is SOOOO much casual content in this game.

    main story = casual
    dungeons = casual
    side quests = casual
    daily quests = casual
    glamours = casual
    hildebrand = casual
    FATES = casual
    NM & HM primals = casual
    coil 1 = casual
    crystal tower = casual
    open world = casual

    im sure im forgetting something

    hardcore players get ummm lemme see
    oh ya coil2 and 5 extreme mode fights and an atma grind

    90% of this game is casual, get over yourselves

    to be fair, in the infancy of 2.0, the forums were flooded with "hardcores" bringing out the torches against how casual the game is.

    most of them have long since moved on or realized they were fighting a battle they couldn't win and stopped trying

    this game is casual, it has been and always will be. people need to stop having panic attacks every time SE adds in something that requires a moderate time investment, its not foreshadowing some evil hardcore takeover.

    That wouldn't be the fault of the developers. If players have a more challenging option and they don't choose it, then they shouldn't complain about lack of challenge.

    Now, I'll just throw this thought out there:

    What if there was an easy way, and a challenging way to accomplish something; the gear rewards from both had the EXACT SAME STATS, but the rewards from the easy way looked far inferior, like sack cloth or something? The hardcore could take pride in having the cooler-looking gear, but the casuals could still have gear that's strong enough to do whatever, and not look as interesting.

    Sorry if someone already posted this. I haven't read every page.

    this debate is dumb IMO. Casual players arent going to make it to end game content before new stuff comes out. Thats why these buffs to pre existing content is in place. I play about 3-4 hours every night after work yet i still consider myself casual. I know I will eventually get to turn 6-9 and Levi extreme but im not trying to complain that it takes to long to farm the Ilvl. I have been having a blast since i started playing again after an 8 month break.

    To hardcore players that complain about the echo buffs and etc... think of it like "How many players will you have clearing current end game content, without the echo buffs to help players coming back or getting back into the groove to catch up?" If an mmo is to survive it cant have that " 0o i havent played this in 3 months im gonna be so far behind the current content that i will never be able to catch back up" feeling.
    Anyway, just my 2 cents :P
