Roulette and unresponsive bad player

Here is my most recent story.

I was in Cutter's Cry on BLM with a WHM, a PLD and a MNK. I was having fun with the PLD, funny guy. The WHM was semi-afk, had to wait for him sometimes. I never said anything about it. I know some player play at work or has kid or whatever the reason. He was kind of a jerk too, but hey, I see it as it added color to the dungeon. So, it was all good. MNK was not talking at all, I don'T mind that at all either. At first boss, we try'd to do the Healer kiting the adds strat even tho I said I was kind of gimp dps. We agreed to give it a try anyway. Wipe'd. So yeah, it was kind of my fault there. (I accidently converted my rings into materia and forgot to get my new ones from retainer). Anywhoo.

We won on 2nd try, didn't notice anything wrong with the MNK so far, except he was hitting precisly everything the tank was hitting. Switching target a lot cuz the tank was trying to hold hate from all the adds, he switched a lot. So I tought to myself "damn that MNK is really awesome, he's focusing on what the tank hit! So much work!!!" So I cheered him on his awesome work after we won. Still no reply. I didn't perceive that as a bad thing as some people don't like to chat or play from bed with controller only or PS4, whatever!

Let's forward to chimera. I try'd to communicate with that MNK in many ways. All I had to tell him was to hug on violet and run on blue. We wiped 3 time, wasting mana on multiple raises. We won on 4th cuz we decided to let him rot dead on the floor. After like 3min he HP'd back to entrance and pathfinded his way back to exit perfectly.

This time we all realized too late that it was a bot. It got its free exp.

We won, so what's the problem?! Are the bots so bad?! Why am I starting a thread against them?! That one bot sure did fooled me!!!

In that case, I can't say I've seen dungeon botters, but I'd bet it's people being on autopilot, where you put on Netflix, mash 1,2,3, and just hit the tank's target. Once you run a dungeon enough, ya get lazy.

Those you are describing, you can eventually get their attention. Even if you on auto-pilot, when you aggro accidentally or wipe, you'll do something about it.
As I told in my previous story, I don't mind those type of player, it's their choice of gameplay and I respect that. I am no better.

I like that you question the fact that they might not be bots, it keeps another perspective to the situation.

I had a tank in Haukke normal mode that kept spamming Flash, Shield lob, and the MP recovery combo on their PLD. The BRD in the party and I kept trying to tell them to do the Rage of Halone combo literally over and over because their hate control was awful and they never listened. Eventually the BRD started talking about bot players and the pld responded like 2 minutes later about how they weren't a bot. They never responded to anything at all after that.

I think if you run into any PLDs that just spam the riot blade combo they are more likely a bot than just a bad player...

I mean PLD combos are so simple I can't fathom anyone being bad at them.

This - I had this yesterday. I ran low roulette to level my WHM and got Copperbell with 3 new players. I gave advice to all of them and the two DPS were listening but the tank ignored everything I said. I was trying to tell him what to do with the slime and the bombs but he kept killing the bombs over and over and wouldn't Flash to hold hate on the slimes. At one point, he walked over to the blocked off part to try to blow that up. I threw one Eye for an Eye on him after we got one bomb off and had hate the rest of the battle. So I ended up holding the slimes, healing myself, killing the bunnies, and spawning the bombs (one DPS disconnected in the middle of the fight and the other died to the one bomb I was able to get to blow up) while he just farted around and killed every bomb that spawned from that point. I ended up just stopping casting heals on myself to start over and try again. After 3 tries of that with no changes, I had to quit and take my 30 minute penalty...

They might be bots. A bunch of times on the lowest three dungeons, I had tanks who simply wouldn't say a word, and just auto attack. Despite how much we talked there would be no response. Then we noticed certain behaviors which confirmed our doubts. They cure at a certain %, would visit every single room in the map. We ended up locking at least one out of the boss room and three manned it. Don't feel bad.. Really, if that person is behaving too strangely and being unresponsive its very likely he isnt even human lol.

Thanks guys for your stories, I am now certain that bots are real.

I normally don't report people. But this time it's personal, they directly kill my enjoyment of the game for 30min or so. I don't care if they bot, but don't bot in a freaking roulette with random player! Gosh!

I had the exact same in tam-tara earlier this week. Ended up wih Eos both healing and tanking while all 4 of us were dps'ing.

I have had people just flat out ignore me, and not talk the entire time, but I'm not sure if any of them were bots. As others have stated, my only problem is when people won't listen to advice. I like to try and help people, but some people don't want to listen.

I had a DRG in Brayflox (normal) the other day that only used Heavy Thrust (and not always from the flank). I tried to give him advice on a rotation (the best I could with limited DRG experience). He even typed a couple of times, and would have simple responses like "Okay", but then would just continue spamming Heavy Thrust. After a few times trying to offer advice, I just gave up, and would move the mobs so that he would at least be on the flank for the buff.
