Fun tip that I've found from playing on both Coeurl and Tonberry. Use the Auto-translate options. You can set up a macro to do them immediate when you get into a duty. Most of the aggression from potentially toxic players vanishes as soon as they think there may be a language barrier. It's also a good way to introduce yourself regardless. And immediate "Hello! Pleased to meet you! Let's do this!" or "This is my first time." goes a long way.

If you're on the PS3, hook up your keyboard and mouse. When you click into the chat bar and it's ready to type, if you hit L1 it brings up auto translate options. You can copy and past them into your macro message (Cntrl+X/C then Cntrl+P).

    /party {Hello!}{Pleased to meet you.}{Let's do this!}

Is roughly how the macro'd look. You can also add emotes like /rally to it if you want a bit of flair in your greeting.

Also, if you want help with anything, want to discuss topics on FFXIV:ARR, I strongly advise against r/ffxiv. That subreddit is toxic as heck. Come here instead.

    This.

You may get the rare douche every so often. But that applies to any community, online or in real life XD

What gets people annoyed is not saying you are new and making mistakes that possibly wipe the party because you didn't know or let the party know that beforehand.

I must ask have you played 11,if so you have a leg up on people all ready.you will know the command line system the chat command line and the key combos all ready to talk.but it works like this the main class you take to 30 the sub class to 15 then you unlock the next class you want that gos with the classes you leveled all ready i am working on my set up to be a pld like i am on 11.
also i thought i would drop you my topic that i asked a few questions of my own in so if you have the same questions you can read it over.

also here is a link for the chat system and macro system

    http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Commands (chat system mostly)

    http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...95/forum/9982/ ( macro commands)

    http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Macro (macro commands)

i want to just point out the macro system commands are not 100% the same as in 11 so if you played 11 ever just take a read over the macro system.then you are a big step a head of most new player.

Hi all, just finished the quest that opens the beast tribe quests and got some tomes of mythology, I know you can swap them for items in mor dhona, but as I'm still level 45, do I need to start on trying to collect yet or not bother yet? Also, I read that you can get them as fate and dungeon rewards, is this all level 50 stuff?

Tips for the forum: The 1000 character limit can be circumvented by typing a <1000 character post, then edit and after that type your post.

For in game advices: Even if you feel no need to watch videos please always do so for later tier raid content. Esp. BcoB. There is alot of mechanics there the whole group is happy if you know about before you leave for it. For everything but coil and EX primals there is no need to watch videos.

As far as gameplay goes. You are an arcanist. Your best way to dish out DPS is by always have dots applied on your target. Also use the green pet. That one helps you best with your role, to deal damage.

Beside that, try to stay out of red and you are fine. Look for a nice FC to join and all will be fine in the end.

The level 50+ dungeons give myth and soldiery tomes as rewards, yes.
The equipment you exchange them for is only equippable at level 50, so don't worry too much about collecting tomes yet although if you have enough it can be a nice boost as soon as you hit 50. More likely you will want to start running the level 50 dungeons which now drop ilvl 70 gear.
