    Hello, began maining monk recently and have a question. This question will probably be less applicable in HW with the new abilities, but maybe once in a while this question will be relevant in HW. In this guide, it says to start with DK-Twin Snakes-Demo then basically go rotate between DK-Twin Snakes and bootshine-True strike

    However, DK does not apply the debuff without Opo Opo form.. so if you don't have perfect balance or Opo Opo form when you begin your rotation.. shouldn't it be: Bootshine-twin snakes-demo... DK-true strike-snap punch... then basically rotate between bootsine-twin snakes, and DK-true strike?

    This way, you aren't reapplying twin snakes early, or putting DK debuff up late. For example, with "ToD-DK-twinS-demo-bootshine-truestrike-snappunch-dk-twins-..." DK debuff is being applied 3 gcds late.. the first time you would be in opo opo form is where bootshine is italicized.

    I keep looking at the additional skills and changes to skills for all the existing classes. Monk changes are looking kinda boring in comparison xD. Nice to have a 220 pot Kamehameha oGCD added every 30 sec though. I know we could use Med like fracture, but i mean if Demo is extended to 21 sec now we can just go through another 3 skills just fine since we'd be at 9 instead of 6. Ofc, this isn't taking into account how fast ticks go with skill speed. With that change, we may find ourselves at numbers on the DoTs more often where the Meditate can be used to get the last tick, thus resulting in more chances to pop a 320 Forbidden Chakra(I forget the potency of it really). Hmmm.

    Add on top of that when we have either t11 type raids of constant uptime, or even just entering the last phase of trial when you know the boss wont jump anymore/spawn adds/etc, you'd have a reason to at least use TK again whenever you have IR+BFB (or IR+BFB+Pot in Alexander) about to wear off for some huge dmg, then pop PB to get right back to GL3. After typing all this out and thinking as I typed, maybe monk won't be as boring as I thought (relative to other classes' changes).

    I still look at all the dmg stuff drg got and feel a little sad lol not to mention NIN Dream within a Dream(300 pot total oGCD with 90sec cooldown i believe), Duality(90 sec cooldown oGCD, basically a 2-hit version of the new Barrage..side note: new barrage makes wanderer's minuet pretty awesome for bards), and Armor Crush(basically replace Huton casting for 0 potency(and extra mudra lag) with a 280 potency weaponskill that extends Huton by 30 sec, and no mudra lag...that's big right there).

In HW though, we can probably start off with a Form Shift which immediately gives us Opo-opo form, so we can open with DK. Form Shift will give us Opo-opo form if we do not currently have any form buff up.

    starting with dragon kick is just a part of what it used to be pre-buff, as bootshine used to only be 130 potency, so your correct starting with bootshine is now better, although if your hitting the positional then it doesnt matter, but again this will change in HW

    Please listen as I feel this issue will arise more after Heavensward starts:

    You do not want to clip your GCDs for any reason, including popping Meditate to help line up DoTs and Buffs. I've said it about 5 times in this thread, though I'll definitely keep saying it again just to drive the point home. I feel as though Meditate might be the bane of Monks if a lot of Monks start doing this. It is a 100% DPS loss. You are losing DPS if you can do any weaponskill and instead hit Meditate, only use Meditate when you are unable to hit a monster, otherwise it is a DPS loss.

    If you need me to explain why, I can and will do so, just let me know.

    Edit: I wonder if someone has done the math of Tornado Kick > PB to see if that is a DPS increase. I have a feeling it is, especially if DK/TS and Demo are up.

    Exactly. Losing out on 1 tick of Demo is 40 potency... That's not worth waiting for.

    I think someone did some math on Tornado Kick in Reddit, and that person got an increase of potency by using TK without PB even, if used at the right time... Not sure if that is really the case, but if you're using PB, then it certainly is a DPS boost. Don't think we're talking anything huge here though, which is kinda the problem I have with this new potency instead of 500...

    You might be referring to the old Tornado Kick Potency (Back when it was 500 potency) for it to be worth blowing every minute, I do not think the new 330 Potency is worth it without PB.

    But isn't that exactly the intention of meditate?
    They wanted to give is something to do durring the transition phases instead of having us stand around doing nothing and waiting for our stacks to fall off while gaining nothing.
