Why would a monk need a buff, on top of what we'll be getting in 3.0?

Greased Lightning! Go Greased Lightning!
But really, I don't think they need a buff. Just an adjustment. To the stated above. That's just me though.
I'd like to see some change to make us more viable in dungeons or open world. The combination of GL and postionals is pretty crippling outside of raids.

I'm sure there are other facets to scrutinize, but these were the most apparent. If this is indeed a legitimate representation, then the only possible explanation I can come up with is that he crits nearly every True Strike which may allow him to hit 680 fairly easily. Either way, what I'd like to know is essentially what the theoretical DPS ceiling of a BiS Monk is. My personal guess is 670-680, but I doubt that this guy was able to achieve that.
its the same as ninja; around 680. To get those you really do need to crit everything though. I have a video of a 620 monk which is like the average run so, long way to go with crit city.I'm sure there are other facets to scrutinize, but these were the most apparent. So, any knowledgeable monks able to chime in on whether 680 DPS is possible on a 3:30 parse? I just saw this video on Youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vvwZLWisGc
However, a few seconds in and I'm left wondering whether or not his parser was just broken or whether this is a common number among the top tier players.
For starters, he uses FFXIV APP and I'm not sure how accurate it is these days. As for his stats and gear, they're far from BiS. The guy's not even in a party (638 Strength) nor does he use food or potions which makes it seem even more implausible. As for his rotation, he doesn't open with Perfect Balance and opts to build GL3 manually. (Is there even an advantage to this?) Lastly, he lets Dragon Kick fall off for roughly 20 seconds at the 00:57 mark which means he could've perhaps hit 690-700 DPS on his own parser.

FFXIVAPP is highly unreliable when it comes to parsing and over/underestimates DoT ticks significantly. ACT is way more accurate. If that person could upload the combat log for that encounter, someone with ACT would have a completely different DPS reading.
Yeah there is no way that guy is able pull those numbers
1 he is using ffxiv app which is very inaccurate.
2 the guy has really low Det with poorly optimized gear
3 as you already said he doesnt even start with perfect balance
4 And he even lets dragon kick drop (a Big no no...)
If this guy was using act he would very likely be doing less than 550 dps probably around the 540ish mark.
@Odowla can you link the video of the 620?
