Assuming Alex normal mode drops gear higher than Lv180, we still got 3 Weeks until we get to pick one piece of gear over others.
I think I'm doing a Crit, SS, Det build for now though, I realize SS doesn't effect Shoulder Tackle, Steel Peak, Howling Fists, Elixer Drive or Forbidden Chakra or Auto Attacks (Does it?) So I don't think it is a good first stat or prioritize, though with the Det nerf I don't see that being a strong stat for melee classes, not a bad stat, just not the best.
i'de expect crit to be weighted higher now based purely upon us having a greater % of our skills that arnt guaranteed crit (shoulder tackle, elixir field, etc), as well as the increase in crit damage now.
i dont really see SS being viable though, because when we get enough of it that it will make a difference, then we are just running into the old TP starvation issue once more.
Det should still be good though, at a guess i'de say on par with crit, it was weighted so high during 2.X in relation to the others, i cant see it falling that hard now just because of the auto hit nerf.
also, i should probably make note that SS (and maybe crit now?) scales exponentially the more we have, Det on the other hand is the opposite.

I don't really see Det as a nerf. Look at the gear stats, det used to have a higher item budget, now it looks like it has the same item budget as the other secondary stats, meaning that while dps contribution per det is lower, we're getting more det in gear. Unless this is a bug, then... :SDet should still be good though, at a guess i'de say on par with crit, it was weighted so high during 2.X in relation to the others, i cant see it falling that hard now just because of the auto hit nerf.

we still get 3/4 of the det compared to the other stats, so the point is mute, it just appears that way because stats are higher in general.I don't really see Det as a nerf. How so? Looking at pre-HW and post-HW gear.
i180 chest:
Fending 69 acc; 48 spd (no det) total: 117
Maiming 69 acc; 46 det (low det) total: 115
Striking 66 det; 48 acc (high det) total: 114
dreadwyrm weapon:
staff 37 crt; 53 spd (no det) total: 90
bow 27 det; 53 crt (low det) total: 80
fist 37 crt; 38 det (high det) total: 75
Items with det now has almost the same total secondary stat values as items without. Previously, items with det has lower totals. So the item budget for det has decreased overall and we can get more det in gear now.
question, how do you guys set up your bars? I often have a problem with monk making my thumb hurt having to move it so much...
for most new skills in heavensward, i just set up an extra modifier key (shift, alt, etc) to my mouse, that way my keyboard hand is still the same as ever.

Monks ... Impossible to gauge. Strong in the past. Strong in the present. Strong for eternity! Imma go roll a monk. lolbard. ; ;
