Hey guys, how is it going? As I'm not playing the game anymore until Heavensward I was bored yesterday and found this video I recorded a while ago. It's a Turn 13 Monk PoV. It was our 5th down so my DPS could definitely be a lot higher, even without echo.

Hope you guys are doing well and see you in Heavensward![]()
I'd say if people talk about numbers they do, tell us first if you have Echo or not lol.
Imo, echo dulls your blade. I click it off everytime we raid. It's like watching people saying "oh I do x dps in scob!(with nerfs and echo) fcob dps/heal/tank checks will be ez!" Then they step into fcob before echo and get rekt. Getting used to echo is bad but that's only my opinion.

Can anyone help in providing the updated stat weights for monk?
We don't really have updated stat weights at the moment. Dervy and Sunny are working are working on a more accurate damage formula. However, what can be said is that det is valued more than we previously thought. Below is the last thing Sunny showed us that was worked on for monk directly:
Just remember that's rough, and they may or may not make it through all the work for each class before the expansion hits. If you would like to read more about the work being done you go to Dervy's blog where he talks about the progress and findings. https://dervyxiv.wordpress.com/With my limited resources, I have used non-BiS (but closeish for non-crafted) gear to see if the stat weights are in the right ballpark. Spoiler: They ain't.
Link: more numbers version.
Less numbers version:
STR: 1.000
DET: 0.572
CRT: 0.210
WD: always use your best weapon lol
SS: 0.196
I used EMX's spreadsheet to calculate the potency of weaponskills and the effects of skill speed and crit. I did make some substantial changes: e.g. GL3 haste on auto-attacks is considered here, and the rotation is the current standard (ToD every 15 GCDs) instead of the one it was using (alternate Fracture and ToD every 10 GCDs). I feel like it may be overestimating the average rotation potency slightly.
This shouldn't change how to itemize properly, though.
I read somewhere that the value of skillspeed and crit constantly changes depending on how much you have of that stat. Is that still true on the new stat weights?
The value of SS and Crit change depending on your weapon damage and attack power (STR/DEX whichever your class uses). Crit has slight diminishing returns on damage and SS is the opposite (not factoring in TP consumption). Anyway, weights are only truly accurate at the baseline they were tested at and when you deviate from that baseline there will be changes (fairly minor), but shouldn't be enough that it would really change your gearing. This is why weights needed to be recalculated each gear tier since they are large changes in WD and main stat. The weights are never set in stone and are really just a guideline (assuming your damage formula is accurate :P).
The work that Dervy and Sunny are doing with Det is interesting, and a nice read if you are into understanding things a bit better. I'm not the math wiz that they are, and I gave up doing crazy math in theorycrafting years ago so I'd definitely check out that link in my previous post for a much more indepth look at what work is going into it.

Exactly that. I don't want people to take my word for it; when you do science, you have to be unafraid to make sure things you say are falsifiable and are falsified once someone knows something better. I know not everyone has a strong math background or wants to do the math. But I do want people to test their gearsets and do moar doops!
Also, at every major patch, SE changes what secondary stats each job gets. This soft-balances things a bit, though sometimes I don't quite understand their rigorous decision-making process.
