Got a good materia - achievement?

Hey, saw some people get this achievement, but nobody was willing to answer how.
I tried using 5x lvl4 materia to get a lvl4 materia, no achievement
used 2xlvl2 materia, 2xlvl3 materia, 1xlvl4 materia, got a lvl4 materia no achievement.

So what do you have to get out of what to get this achievement? The info text there is lacking some information ~.~

I second this, no one who has it wants to answer I've gotta IV materia from it too, still nothing.


EDIT: Figured it out.

If basically if you rank up materia.

I.e. give 5 T1 materia and get a T2. if you give a t4 it's impossible I think. But T1-T3, if you get a higher rank than what you give you should get it. Might be limited to T3 -> T4 though.

Maybe its using all lower grade materia to achieve a materia that is at least one grade above the components?

Got the Achievement.

And I thought its a first try Achievement... didn't know its that hard to get...

If only I have that kind of luck in Atma and Dungoen drops..

Gonna post a few of my results, but to clarify before hand I'm not gonna bother writing out Materia names, only tier ranks, becase from what I've experienced it doesn't matter what you put in, it'll give you a random type back.

(i.e. 5 strength materia gave me guile materia, 2 craftsman+ 3 int still gave me a guile)

First I tried multiple T1s ONLY (here are the results ONLY)
1. T1
2. T1
3. T1
4. T1
5. T1

Then I tried mixing it a bit (i'll post tier mixes here)

6. T1 (x3) + T2 (x1) + T4 (x1) = T4
7. T2 (x2) + T3 (x2) + T1 (x1) = T2
8. T1 (x4) + T4 (x1) = T3
9. T4 (x5) = T3
10. T2 (x3) + T1 (x2) = T1

Ok so this is by no means 100% accurate but these are the (assumed) facts.

A) You can mix and match materia you give for new materia
B) The materia TYPE you receive is 100% RNG(I found no pattern at all)
C) It is possible to get materia that is a HIGHER rank than the highest rank materia you gave (This rule excludes T4 as it is the highest rank still) There are no higher materia rank listings on the marketboard therefore it is confirmed that T4 is still the highest
C2) The new materia achievement 'I Got a Good Materia' is achieved by giving sub T4 materia (T1-T3) and GAINING a T4 materia (Needs further confirmation)
C3) Conversely, It is also possible to get materia back that is a LOWER rank than the lowest materia you gave (Excluding T1 dude to it being the lowest rank)
D) The received materia's rank is HEAVILY influenced by the rank of materia you give, HOWEVER, it is no absolute. (See #9)




Honestly, judging from what I learned, this is hardly a 'reworking' of the system. It's just an RNG exchange system that'll only force the prices of materia higher now.

Seems like it's very rare to get a higher tier materia. Exchanged ~200materia (40x) and got nothing higher :/
