I believe that FFxiv has tons of potential, I'm enjoying the game immensely, but feel that the crafters might be able to help enrich and enliven the community even more. I've put together a bunch of ideas and suggestions gathered from the interwebs and my brains that can help usher in a new age for crafters.
also, I know that each class has their own problems (i.e. there should be HQ furnishings, and regenerative and buff-giving potions should be on separate CDs), I still feel that the future is still bright.
Furthermore, I'd like to thank the internet, Reddit, Square-Enix and YOU! for how the game is going and how it fills me with these ideas and fondness.
now onto the main course!
-Tent/Cottage/Campfire like item be used in dungeons that'll bring you to a little separate room where you can trade potions, feed your allies, or strategize, maybe go fishing or do some shit while waiting on duty finder to find a filler(which is a little counter intuitive since you don't wanna wait for fillers)? I was crushed the first time after getting to 50Cul and excited to give fellow adventurers food and to help them out, but couldn't.
-Display Cases or Feast where food can be seen, maybe even clicked for a buff, the feast things would be a full party food item, I've seen someone suggest it before, and the idea is, afaik, a bunch of items held by the group and/or culinarian gets crafted into an interactable object/furniture, giving you a buff or something fun.
-DoH/DoL treasure maps or Bounty/Mission Boards where the maps will send you to underwater caves, unspoiled mountain peaks and hidden oasis, that can you give unique items or special time of the day where this flower blooms or this fish come out. a magic filled place that imbues your crafts with fiery passion. good for complimenting any end-game materials that can be obtain from bosses or quests even.
-Butchering i fracking hate the 100 fish that have no particular use. some have awesome lore, how traditionally they're used in stews and soups but a renown culinarian that fed Ul'dah royalty can't. Why not be able to just butcher fish, output 2-5 fillets of certain cuts/fat content, fish bones/head/guts, and on HQ big fish a low chance for items, this can be applied to other meats even. I'd also like the option of throwing the fish back in for more xp or something reduce fish clutter. even if this is a game world, I would like to use every part of the animal or set it free.
-I also read an idea of having certain HQ bigfish/weapons be wall mount-able. have a little plaque with the lore, date and where it was caught/crafted and stuff. also, later on we could get a bucket item to keep live fish for live mooch bait or to bring to an aquarium/pond/cloud/sandtrap. &while we're on the topic of fishing, a tackle box would be greatly appreciated, and the preferred bait of fishies would be nice too.
-Flavoring, I'm thinking this as a culinarians', or even alchemists', way of melding. i know certain foods give certain stats, but why not by enhancing a foods flavor, i.e. it's spice, aroma, sweetness, texture, besides HQing it adds something else. like making a food spicier could give you speed but lacks the subtle citrons to give you determination and maybe a potion that gives hp gives a wee bit of vitality/parry. i know doing this would definitely put a focus on noncombat classes and tip balances though so it'll hafta be closely monitored.
-House Construction Crp works on masonry, Smiths can work on metal framework, etc.
-Crafting Competitions a daily quests, something timed or instanced even. culinarians can cook a five-course meal with themes, people given a set amount of items may furnish a room, or the most potions with most quality in x time. or even a Raid the Theatre, picture "I Want to be Your Canary" where it's a free-for-all in classes, select-able dialogue, bards singing, weavers are in charge of costumes, carpenters on the set, alchemists take the lights, workers repair this&that, materials all over the set, and a rowdy rambunctious audience sounds like tons of fun.
