newts and efts are the same thing. So if you fought an eft of a newt technically you would get an eft tail drop from both I believe to consolidate inventory space. A similar example is how Opo Opos and Galagos are the same species, and model and hence pretty much the same thing. If that wasn't your quest then I'm sorry ^^

edit because I just realized I said quest here, and meant "question"

You know, I didn't even think of the fact that those two words were related in the real-world. Perhaps that's where this mistake originated?

To fill you in, Eft Tails are a drop from an enemy monster; while Nether Newts are a freshwater fare fished from Cassiopeia Hollow. However similar they are in the real world, they're completely different and distinctly named items in-game. The description of the food flat out says that it contains a specific in-game item that it does not, in fact, contain at all.

I wonder which is wrong, though - the recipe or the translation.

    Hello all!

Sorry for the delay on replying to recent posts. The terrifying three-day weekend beast had me in its jaws and refused to let go...until today.

While Zaviermhigo makes a good argument based on solid biological evidence, it turns out that Anonymoose is correct. This is a case of the original recipe consisting of nether newts, and then being adjusted in a later version to improve game balance. 99.8% of the time, we catch these and update the help text before the change goes live, but this one seems to have slipped through the cracks. I fixed the text and if all goes well, you'll see it in-game in the patch immediately following 1.18.

You know what, I totally forgot there were a fish called newts, but to be fair most of time when I post on these forums its like 4 am my time :/ I should sleep rest my brain and maybe I'll remember things. I don't fish though, so I am ignorant in that regard. Thanks for keeping up on the forum's confusion Fernehalwes et al.
