Thx for the info, didn't know it limited to 8 on psn party chat. Disappointing considering a crap game(in my opinion) like dc universe online has voice chat.

The way our FC makes use of the party system is to have one or two open parties up to figure out who wants to run what or just shoot the shit while doing solo stuff. When a group wants to run a dungeon they make thier own chat so as to be able to communicate easily and not have people talking over each other. When they're done they just bounce back to one of the main chats. Seems to work out well. And most of us have keyboards to be able to communicate with folks outside our FC that we may be running with.

Personally I don't really care for voice chat that much, heck I don't even use it in my own personal life so I am not about to start now. I only talk to people on my cell that I know in person. Its nothing person I just like keeping my private life well private..etc.
To each his own. I can understand that. Personally I can't imagine any MP game without VC anymore after the last decade or so of most every one of them having it. Just makes everything easier.
Haha, To the OP: that mentality is exactly why we Formed Thumb Knights. I saw an opportunity with PSN chat and wonted to build something around that. Coming from FFXI, where typing was the only way to communicated i personally felt very disconnected with linkshell members.
Higher lvl elitist who look down on PS4 players not being as vocal on text chat is a joke. i've been on all sides, playing MMOs with Vent up, XI with just text chat, and XIV with VC. I can say that if you find it challenging or a hinderance to type with the controller, do what you can and find people who will be in the same boat as you. I personally have a keyboard hooked up to my PS4 but only out of habit with MMOs (i like to write macros, not so easy to do with the controller)
As far as the 8 man limitations, like Cap said, we work just fine. i find it to be very easy to switch out of FFXIV and drop in to the Voice Chat menu, switch parties or make a new one and move back to FFXIV.

To OP: Voice chat is nice when it makes sense, but in this game you're not gonna be able to get by with voice chat only. Basically you're going to have to read the text onscreen and you will have to interact with others with text. There are several options for how to do it but you will have to. Even with a FC that's PS4/voicechat only you will encounter, and have to work with, folks not in your FC.Like it or not,it's something you're going to have to adapt to. You can try to ignore it but you'll have a LOT less fun that way.

I like the idea of a ps4 FC. Like someone wrote earlier, just join with people that are on the same boat! I'm a ps4 user and I do find it very frustrating having to use the controller to write. So, if anyone DOES open a ps4 FC, I'm all in. I don't mind typping at all but I do prefer to VC and if someone don't share the same opinion then that is too bad for them.
