I play on the ps4 and feel the same way. I don't understand why people don't use voice chat. Maybe it has something to do with all the dudes out there that play with female characters and it will destroy some peoples illusions. lol I don't even need all ps4 people just people that will use voice chat. I am on the Zalera server btw.
People due use voice chat, in the form of team speak, mumble, vent, etc. Keep in mind, there are not as many PS4 players as there are PS3 and PC players. Remember this game doesn't have built in voice chat, so the majority of us are using 3rd party programs to VC with each other. I suggest you join an FC that uses one of these if you are that adamant about VC.
Due note that your choice and refusal to use a keyboard to communicate is not only bad on your part, but it's one of the reasons so many veteran players will insult and bash newer players. Whether you want to use a keyboard or not, you should be doing it anyway if you don't have people to VC with, especially when using the duty finder.
You can use a keyboard on the PS4 to just communicate, you don't have to give up the controller by using a keyboard.
What are linkshells if they aren't in game voice chat? If you are going to insult and bash people for not using a keyboard, I think I would probably not want to play with you anyway.People due use voice chat, in the form of team speak, mumble, vent, etc. Keep in mind, there are not as many PS4 players as there are PS3 and PC players. It's like I stated above, I don't want to use the keyboard. Not that I refuse to use one but i just prefer to keep my mouse n keyboard at my pc. Thats the whole point of a console. I understand it could be handy. I don't care if someone bashes me as a newer player. Voice chat is superior and I prefer it. It's not bad on ANYONES part to play a game they pay for how they see fit. Anyways I would Organize a FC that is ps4 based if enough were willing and we could manage to get on same server. I have 2 friends that play and would be willing to reroll or transfer if possible so if I can get 10-20 people that want this we could work things out and make it happen. And for the record you "veterans" wanna sit around and bash people feel free but I wont be reading my chat box anyway so have fun with that.
I am interested. What server are you guys on? Won't restart but might transfer. It's like I stated above, I don't want to use the keyboard. Naiyla then if you don't read the chat you become a liability since the chat will have macroed warnings and other things mentioned(like hello at start - if you are that self absorbed that you don't want to even say hi then your problem). I just bought a 10eur usb keyboard that I use for both ps3 and ps4 and have no issue - hell I chat during duties in FC chat and LS chat more than I do in the party chat - and I'm playing with a controller on a ps4.
Embrace the diversity that SE put in the game with having PC, PS3 and PS4 users mixed in. Rather than trying to be a PS4 only exclusive FC how about trying for a FC that is friendly to everyone, let's have some fun and if people want some progression as well.
Nobody will bash you as such - hell most people in duties rarely say a word other than the initial greeting(which you can just macro). The only reason people are saying to have a keyboard around is for chat - and frankly it's limited. Usually before bosses someone will explain the strategy if there are new people(in the chat box you don't plan on reading). Also when you queue up for duty roulette expect to be paired with people that don't have voice chat capability at all(and believe me you will be queueing up once you hit that).
Also what's the point of voice chat when at most you have 8 people chatting(on the ps4) in a party. You won't be able to chat with all the buddies in your linkshell or FC at the same time. If you really want to focus on voice chat get a FC that uses an external voice chat system(like mumble, teamspeak or vent) get a smartphone app ro a tablet app(if you have either) and have that next to you to voice chat with them.
And as for your "voice chat is supperior" attitude sure it is. If everyone can clearly hear and understand eachother. I rather have a macro that posts a "Warning do this <se.1><se.1><se.1>" that will notify with sound and with an explanation in the chat box than having someone try and yell at me through 4/8 others chatting in the voice chat.
But anyway the choice is yours. Enjoy the game any which way you please. I do hope you will enjoy the game in your own way.

I'm on PS4 and I've seen a few on Brynhildr, where I am. It's not a big deal to me though because I have a wireless USB keyboard that I can easily switch between my PC and PS4 (both are hooked up to my TV). I'm in a FC with pretty much all PC players, from what I can tell. I use the controller to play and the keyboard to chat.
I also agree that not reading the chat box isn't a very good idea...I think the only situation in which I'd even care to use the PS4 voice chat is if I'm in a light party with only other PS4 users. I imagine eight people would end up being too chaotic and you could easily miss things during a fight, but I think four would be ok. The only thing that bothers me at all about the chat box is having to add all the RMT spammer accounts (advertising gil and power leveling selling) to my blacklist. I've been playing for about a week and I see a few of them pretty much every day. It's rather annoying...but it only takes a few seconds to block them.
I'm very glad for the option to use a keyboard though; without it, I don't think I would get very involved with anyone in my FC in doing stuff simply because it takes too much time to type with the controller, and so far they have been very helpful, so I'd be missing out.
