    Level cap increase every 1-2 years.

    I'm not sure if there is a thread about this yet, but I've been slightly irked ever since I heard that Yoshi plans to raise the level cap every 1-2 years. Before really going into any sort of pro's and con's thread, and before finding out if there already is one, I am just curious to see what everyones feelings on this is. So, here's a simple poll.

    I personally am against level cap increases, I'd prefer a solid landing zone to reach once the game is good to go (be it another 75, or an 80, or even a 100) to stick to for the duration of the game's glory years, with expansion content remaining balanced to previous content.

    Like this post if you prefer a static level cap.

    Some prefer the level increases every 1-2 years, offering a fresh outlook every expansion, with new content more or less taking the place of the old content.

    Like this post if you prefer a regularly increasing level cap.

    Option 1! It kept me and pretty much my entire LS interested in FFXI for 6 years straight, along with most of my friends and acquaintances in the game. There was always so much to do and almost none of it felt pointless.

    When you make content redundant or undesirable by comparison, you're losing a big piece of the game. It's a waste of the players' and the developers' time. And if you just keep replacing pieces of the game, the game never grows, it stays the same size. I think it's the reason why some games which will remain unnamed feel like they lack content after only a couple of months of play, despite having been released years ago and having multiple expansions.

    I prefer static because that means there will always be stuff to do when I cap new classes. If the cap is raised a lot of the content breaks or becomes useless. It's just as possible to create character growth with gear alone and forget ranks after 50.

    Monster Hunter 3 Tri is a good example of that.

    There's such a screaming lack of content and endgame content that it would be silly to make that useless after it's completed.

    Also how rewarding is it to grind 2 levels compared to performing complex tasks to earn better gear? After grinding all the way to the cap the grinding get less and less fun. On my previous character I decided to re-start just because I wanted to experience the climb to the top with more content.

    Bottom line there isn't enough content for ranks 1-50 and making that for even bigger will only underline the problem not alleviate it.

    if they don't increase level cap, you are going to have a problem like in aion.
    where there is like 10 different ranks of level 55.
    The distinction would be what gears one wears.
