To be pretty honest, I've done all the weapon upgrade questline until the relic+1, then stopped.
I've stopped because I'm casual player, mainly playing on evenings and I am not so much fine with things that I don't even know if I will succeed on doing them.

Please note I am really fine with things that require much effort to do them, it just means I will take more days to do them, but at least I know what the steps to do are, I will do them one at time until reach the goal.

The ATMA random drop part of this new weapon upgrade questline, have instead made me "meh", because it seems I can dedicate how many time I want on this, but the result will be totally random. The success of this quest does not depends the time I dedicate, nor by the skills I have to improve (learn the Titan HM fight, in primis), so I feel like I reached a dead end. It surely is not, but these are my feelings on this part of the weapon upgrade path was chosen.

I am sure the developers have already foresee behaviors like mine, and in fact have provided alternatives for that weapon. It means I (may) will try to get the alternate weapons, but I will keep the bittersweet feel to have left off something.

The ATMA drop RNG is the biggest problem in my opinion.
Some of our FC members got so frustrated with farming FATEs that they almost quit playing, going 300+ FATEs without a single drop.
The Myth farming, although it's pretty tiresome, is not that bad because you see constant progress.
The books are the best part of the quest for me.

The Golden Saucer will have relic upgrade pachinko.

And each ball will cost 1000 gil... It will be called "The Mog". Also the only one who can win it is Yoshida... And he will prove it in anonymousity to make people go on, thinking they might win while he drains the whole server dry on gil.

I haven't even started my atma / animus questline. There's nothing more tedious than FATEs, really. I tried leveling with FATEs earlier, and I just simply couldn't stand it. So why would I want to return to content I loathe? This is utter bullsh*t.

Please stop using FATEs for everything, SE.

Good news!

the new Relic will include an addition of 12(!!) books, each one costing 2,000 tomes of mythology, 1500 tomes of soldiery. In addition you will need to defeat all the extreme primals in a time trial, which requires you to beat all 3 of them in less than 20 minutes!

they want to reduce the amount of relics someone could have ... not like zenith.. It's possible to have all relic weapons as zenith .. but that would reduce for atma and animus

IMO the books are fine, so what if they take a lot of time? spread it out, make it a goal for a few months and you will enjoy it. I did Bray SR on my first books and was falling asleep, now i only do the daily roulettes and I'm having fun doing different raids everyday.

As for Atma, while I got mine relatevly fast and I do agree RNG is fine being part of the game, I had some FC member who didn't and was very frustrated as he works twice if not tripled more than me for it. Maybe there should be a hard cap as in if we don't get atma in a specific number of fates we get a drop rate boost or a temporary drop rate buff...

All in all I like that I have long term goals...

Apparently we already have the drops we just have not turned them in, because we could not see that we had them.
