    [Dev1079] The Dungeoneer

SE is thinking about an instanced dungeon for level 30 and level 50 parties. Well Sony for EQ2 is letting people make their own dungeon. Dungeon making is a popular type of game, why SE hasn't made final fantasy: dungeon tactics yet is beyond me.

Anyways, here's the idea. You have a Dungeoneer class. He's a crafter and he sits around all day thinking, how can I slay all these annoying adventurers who keep trampling my petunias and leaving corpses everywhere? Anyways, he comes up with the idea of building large dungeons with needlessly complicated death traps to keep the riftraft happy and out of his garden. Thus he has one dungeon he can build parts and make additions too. Traps, treasure chests, monster spawn locations, statues of himself, naked women, and himself with naked women. That sort of thing. Then he can put a big neon sign that says "monsters and lonely captured maidens inside" to lure the adventurers in. Those adventurers, us, can then raid his dungeon, slay his monsters, take his loot, free the maidens, and then dance a happy jig on his flowerbed with the moogles playing a festive tune when it's all over.

Obviously as the dungeoneer progresses, he can add better features, maintain a larger dungeon, create monsters with better skill choices and better ai, etc.

Well, SE did this already! Meet FFXI's moblin maze mongers! ^^ I do hope they add a similar system here too since my relatioship with FFXI was terminated abruptly so i wasn't able to fully try the MMM system.

I do would love seeing this kind of system here! I can imagine the potential this would have for playr-made events...like you picking a grotto and having a certain number of stuff to add there...from tunnels to enviromental stuff, traps, monsters, etc...and once you're done you receiving a "maze key"...and if you give the maze key to another player, he being able to enter the very same dungeon and not being able to remove what you added, but being able to add his stuff in your dungeon too...

Just imagine the size and ramdoness of the maze after after like 20~30 LS members add stuff there...not only no one (not even the maze owner) will know the maze but it would also become extremely complex!

That's another possibility ^^ You make it and define it as private or publiic. If private, only LS members can use and, if public, anyone can registe a party for it. Then people would just set a difficulty and the game place the monsters/treasure chest randomly based on chosen settings ^^

And to offer continuously imprvements, everytime a party outside LS try the dungeon you receiving points that can be exchanged into more stuff to your dungeon ^^

As for the rewards, there would have to be a limit as to how much could be added depending on the number and level of the monsters in the dungeon (and possibly also depending on the size - a place with one room should have less treasure than a place with 5, generally).

Oh a less sure idea, maybe the dungeon should be capped at the dungeoneer's rank (as the rewards and mob levels will be also). The dungeoneer will then have an even chance against the players. The dungeoneer gets some exp for making the place, but he/she gets bonus exp for slaying an adventurer in the dungeon. Or if the party fails, maybe the dungeoneer gets some reward, such as 1/10th the value of the dungeon's treasure (in gil).

Just some thoughts. I like the idea a lot. It is kind of an indirect form of PvP that could be strictly regulated and could require skill (like if the dungeoneer could set traps... but the traps could be visibly seen if the players looked carefully enough, just like in oblivion).

Setting traps would be cool too ^^ And an even cooler possibility since we taked about PvP...the owner having the option of controlling a certain monster in it (obviously this monster wouldn't give any XP when killed) so he could also take part of the dungeon, like the minotaur did at mythology, starting at opposite side so the owner could be fooling around and mess with the party in there =P
