    Grand Company Seals for Crafting

I don't know if most people are maxed out of the GC seals? But it would seem that is most likely to happen. In any case it was suggested that GC seals can aid crafting. So is that the best use of GC seals, after getting the chocobo and max promotions?

More specifically, what is a checklist of items to get for crafting with GC seals?

BTW I am a total noob to crafting.

    Thanks.

You'll need the crafting items available from the current max rank to make the materials required for higher end crafting. These items are needed to get better recipes and in turn better gear. For example, Potash makes Vanya Silk which is needed for Weaving.

All of them are consistent in that you need 9 of the item from the Grand Company to make ONE item, however. Expect to spend a lot of seals and not really feel like you got anything in return.

You can buy the materials which were available for Tomestones of Philosophy pre 2.2.
They are used to craft 2-star items and cost 2500 seals per piece.
You need 9 of these materials for every crafted piece of gear.
You also need them to get the mastercrafting books. 45 for every book.

Regarding the material you should buy. That depends if you plan on using it yourself or if you want to sell it.
If you sell, check AH prices.
If you want to use yourself, get the ones your craft uses. (Animal Fat for Leatherworker, Potash for Weaver,...)

UNLESS you're doing Culinarian. Sauteed Coeurl only needs one bottle of cooking sherry to make and you can buy ten for the price of one of any other piece of crafting material.

No, they all require the special mats. Animal fat for LTW, Coke for BSM and ARM, etc.

Ah right, I forgot about that one. Which is strange because CUL was my first 50 crafter. D: Shame WVR is so much more profitable, really. Though I guess in the long run food is a commodity in constant need whereas gear will eventually stop being desired.
