That is a really really good idea. Would give more reason to grind, and its a repeatable grind where you can actually see a % increase as you go. Though I think they would need to cap it @ 2 materia per item slot.

Either cap it, slow SB down on a non-linear progressive curve for each materia added, straight up make the success chance lower per successive materia, or put in a simple system of diminishing returns after 2 materia per item slot: IE X Material gives 5% bonus, but if it's the 3rd Materia on the item it only gives 3.5% or something (all numbers are just BS and used for effect).

Please, no. ;_; They already took a (welcome) step away from the Korean MMO model when they abolished the "fail an overmeld and it destroys the equipment" - let's keep moving in the same direction.
I think you may have misread, her idea was that you could combine lower-level materia, perhaps via a crafting process, and produce higher-level materia. No gear destruction involved.

Another really cool thing would be if you could combine the effects of two different types of materia into a hybrid materia. Did someone else say that here yet?

I'm aware of that. I didn't misread her post.

But your comment has nothing do with what she said in her post. At all. So you didn't misread, you just responded completely randomly?
