I'm totally with you. Just actually commented on this in the Other forum in a Chocobo post. I was originally hoping for this in FFXI WoG based on the concept art. Since they are considering job specific mounts, my thought was that maybe a possible job stemming from the Lancer class could be Chocobo Knight. It could act as a pet job. When pet was called the player would automatically mount their Choco and then would fight with a lancer weapon from their mount. The job could have added pet equipment slots for Choco breastplate and helmet armor. I think this would be a killer concept! Maybe since the job is mounted and the Choco would have it's own armor it would be reasonable to make it have lower damage but a great deal of defense. The result could be a second true tank class. Also "WARK!" would be the equivalent of provoke.
