    [dev1062] (Repost with Dev Tag) Simple Targeting is Simple

    At the moment there are 3 target mode types available which are all pretty confusing to me. So I came up with an Idea.

    [Not in Party]
    When in Passive mode Target mode is set to all

    When Engaged in combat Target mode is set to:

    (Left and Right Arrows keys or D-Pad) Target All
    (Up and Down Arrow Keys or D-pad) Target Self and Enemies

    [In Party]
    When in Passive mode Target mode is set to all

    When Engaged in Combat Target mode is set to:
    (Enter or the X button) Targets Near by Enemy being attacked by your Party
    (Left and Right Arrows Keys or D-pad) Target Enemies
    (Up and Down Arrow Keys or D-pad) Target Party Members

    I feel that this would be simpler then having 3 different Target modes I don't see the need to target everything while I'm in combat during a party just the enemies around us and my party members switching modes is a pain. This could possibly be the default, I've messed around with the target system in game and I still think that it's to complicated when it could be as simple as this. Let me know what you think.

    Also can't wait for you to put an arrow indicator on top of the enemies and within the party list interface!

    This is actually a good idea, but maybe need some fine tuning.
    Btw dev tags don't go in the title. Look bottom on the topic: add/edit tag. There you put tags. for future reference.

    In response to your idea Liniont:

    I agree in a sense, because as it is now, the targeting system seems very clunky and I would like to see it streamlined like this. It will be interesting to see what other people input (positively) :3

    Ah I wasn't aware but I placed the Dev tag in the "Tag" section as well, I wasn't sure lol thanks for the heads up.

    @OP, I agree, the current targeting implementation is unnecessarily complicated and could use some streamlining. There are some targeting mode configurations that are completely useless and might as well just be removed entirely.

    For me, I just usually keep it on the mode (whichever one that is) where I can press up/down to target party members and left/right to target enemies.

    I like the idea, but one thing bothers me. I don't see why the functionality of the up/down and left/right when engaged can't be the same when in party vs out of party. In fact, I don't see why in party vs out of party has to be different at all. Just change In Party to this:

    When in Passive mode Target mode is set to all

    When Engaged in Combat Target mode is set to:
    (Enter or the X button) Targets Near by Enemy attacking you or a Party member
    (Left and Right Arrows Keys or D-pad) Target Enemies
    (Up and Down Arrow Keys or D-pad) Target Party Members and Self

    ...and then use that regardless of whether or not you are in a party. Simple targeting is even more simple.
