    Ok,this is a problem.

I'm doing a fate solo for my animus, it's difficult especially as a non healer class (monk) but between using second wind, bloodbath, potions, a tank chocobo and kiting I can sustain. A random tank joins half way through the fight, great right? No. He takes all the enmity, loses all his hp and runs away with the fate boss at 5% hp and resets it with just a minute left on the timer. This isn't fair on me or any other player who comes close to reaping a reward for very challenging gameplay only to have it completely ruined by someone else. I didn't agree to be in a party with this person, i don't feel my game experience should be so directly and negatively affected by them.

Please consider a different system for handling fates like this, I'd suggest making enemies auto switch to the next target highest on their enmity list rather than resetting their state and recovering their full hp.

i would better make/join a party than doing it myself but if that's the case i wonder how you can sustain it as an mnk and a tank would die. so either you were extremely unlucky because this tank didnt know his class well or he was too undergeared for the fate... i dont know which fate you are talking about but tanks can handle most fates without a healer (not solo) so next time try to form a party and since it's a fate for animus i bet other people will want it as well.

They really should look into the issue of FATE mobs resetting their HP, because someone decides to chicken out and run. The NM's HP should not reset, unless everyone is KO'ed and it hasn't been attacked for a certain length of time. If people are still attacking it, and it runs outside of its bounds, it should just return to it's spawn point and continue the fight. If it's not being attacked, if should slowly regenerate HP, like players. Resetting HP is just unnecessary (at least for NMs), and obviously a major inconvenience.

As long as I stay in the FATE zone, the hp remains where it was when the coward ran. At least that is how it seems. Maybe I just didn't notice due to grinding them until my brain went numb.

That's incorrect. If you are the enmity holder and you ran out of zone and also made the FATE mob run out of zone, it will return to the FATE zone and HP reset.

Maybe that is what happened, the player stopped attacking and I took over enmity before it went out of the zone.

How I can't stand people doing this. Bards are experts in landing the big numbers, then go on to kiting (fun for all tanks and melee classes) and in the end running away like a chicken lol. I was in the exact situation the OP was..almost cleared a FATE; tank comes, HP go down, mob almost dead and he starts running. I even used the chat to tell him that he should just die and I switch the char after FATE is over to revive him. But no, running running running so the enemy resets. And back to another undefined time of waiting. At least he died nevertheless because on his way to escape, he aggroed trash mob that killed him. And I did not ressurect him but waved at his dead body. I know I am a bitch sometimes.

Get your Chocobo companion to Rank 5 ish when he gets Cure and he makes a pretty effective healer for soloing fates, I put healer and attacker stances on my alt bar and he keeps my Bard healed pretty effectively. Never dropped below 75% on anything except the really nasty ones (Lazy Laurence and squirrel Trappers wife, Im talking about you..)
