But, but, FATEs are all faceroll easy non-challenging content.. /sarcasm
Sucks man, as others have said, best bet is to get some friends, and bring a choco. Good Luck

On another note, you have to get Gold rating for credit too. Silver and Bronze will not work.

I can confirm -- that FATE CANNOT be soloed. I have soloed many FATEs as SMN with great gear, but I was once at this FATE alone and barely finished off ONE of the four Ixali before time ran out. You definitely need friends for this one. I haven't had issues with any other FATE, really, because they are all easily managed with Titan-Egi and lots of damage.
The most frustrating thing about books, in my opinion, is the fact that if you die on the boss you need in a dungeon, you will not get credit. I was once in a "Lost City of Amdapor" group where the healer volunteered to do the doors. He forgot on the last one, and we were all blasted to low HP... the tank died, I sent him a raise, and then I got killed (2nd in hate list). I begged the healer to please raise me because I needed credit, but he didn't, and the melee used LB. =/ No credit, and I spent 45+ minutes teaching a new person the dungeon too. Extremely frustrating... but, like anything, doing books, whether inside a dungeon or outside, is always easier with friends. It's too bad most books don't 'align' though!

The goat fate? i think that one must be bugged or something :P
