The Issue

Hello everyone,

I'm hoping for a discussion on a matter that has been appearing on the forums over the months and then vanishing again into the Void.
The Lower bodies of our characters.

August, 31st 2013, a FFXIV player Vandark(Forum Name), created a topic on this issue,

Hello,
Lead designer Takeo Suzuki here.

We understand that you all care deeply for the detail and shape of your characters, and while the development team is really happy about this, we would like to keep the specifications for character’s butts as they are.

I’d like to explain a bit about why we changed the shape of character model’s butts. It all began when Yoshi-P and the character team sat down and reconsidered what should be prioritized for players when we moved from 1.0 to A Realm Reborn.

Based on this discussion it was decided to place emphasis on the below:
New races (male Miqo’te, female Highlanders, and female Roegadyn.)
Increase the amount of content and the amount of reward items (equipment and weapons)
(We want to make a team that can create more than four times the amount of rewards compared to what there was originally.)

As a result of thinking about what could be done to fulfill the above objectives all while converting everything over and optimizing all the data by completely remaking the graphics engine, we decided to reduce the cost by simplifying items that were too complex when making them. One aspect of this was the graphical display of waist equipment.

I deeply apologize for those of you who were really partial to what Miqo’tes looked like in 1.0, but this decision was made so we could relaunch with new races and a lot of new equipment. We will be implementing a wide variety of really cool looking equipment moving forward, and we appreciate your understanding on this.

My fear is the change is not only unnatural looking but it is also creating a problem for Roegadyn.

I'll explain. Female Roegadyn has a wider frame in upper and lower body than Miqo'te and the other races, so for example the new spring dress(bottoms) is clipping, which was probably because the equipment was modeled for the thinned 2.0 body model. There are also very noticeable chunks of pixels deformed on female Roegadyn legs which was probably a result of speedy production.



I would rather quality over quanity, however don't get me wrong I love the job Square Enix has done to this game!
(Keep in mind this is only my personal fear and observations it may not even be related to the issue at all, however it does not change how unnatural the 2.0 bodies look)

The Question

I am going to try and resurrect this issue yet again and hope for a Dev Response in this thread
which will hopefully answer this question;

The reason why I am also asking for a slider feature is because there are many players that actually like the new look, however there are also many many players that wish for it to be reverted back to the old way since it appears very unnatural as it is now.
(We have Breast sliders...)


Square Enix, Please answer our plea and consider changing it and to everyone reading this topic, please Support this any way you can!. I pray this will reach the ears of the Dev team and they will consider making changes, because Like Lead Designer Takeo Suzuki stated there are a great number of players that "care deeply for the detail and shape of our characters".

While I personally don't care about making bigger butts, I am all about having options. A slider would be great.

Thank you for your support, and yes I agree 100%, all of these things have been met.

More info that I forgot to mention:
People might be wondering why a Roegadyn(And not a Miqo'te) is asking for these changes.
1. I feel directly responsible in a way because I use one of the 3 races added that caused this to happen.
2. I somehow feel Roegadyn is effected by it as I have found there are clipping issues with some gear. I feel if things were to
revert back to normal (races other than Roegadyn's hips going back or reverting back) that many of the clipping issues for
Roegadyn would be fixed, i'm sorry if it's selfish of me... I feel(and fear) there isn't a lot of care for Roegadyn...and when they create
gear it is done with the other races in mind and not Roegadyn due to us being so unpopular to the playerbase.




3. I too feel it looks unnatural, I share the concern for those players that shared thier concern in the previous thread.
