To Those Who Quickly Obtained Their Atma

So far so good - I've obtained my first 5 atma in roughly 5 hours. However, I want to find out if there is a reason for us being so lucky - if not just for luck.

I have a hunch. I've heard countless stories of people grinding for 12 hours to not obtain a single Atma but then eventually switch zones and grab a different atma right away. I started thinking about a different approach I take when farming atma.

When I atma farm and a fate appears on the opposite side of an Aetheryte on the map I typically "ALWAYS" teleport to the Aetheryte and then choco from there. By any chance do the players who have been lucky do the same thing? Is it possible that the RNG gets adjusted when you zone?

Apologize if this ends up not being useful but I thought it was worth a shot to try to help others.

Nope, RNG is RNG. Two sides of the spectrum, one side will get lucky, one side will get boned. People just tend to come up with theories and stories to run away from the fact that it is RNG.

Good luck on the rest of the atma though! Fight-o!

And I pointlessly highlight that this is in fact: Truth!

I was honestly hoping to see a; "SCREW YOU" thread.
    *sigh*

But yeah, curse you, you dastardly lucksters with your unholy power of winning rolls and gaining loot!

I did get 4 atma in less than an hour roaming Eozea and doing any FATE that cross my way (even in area where there was no ATMA) in order to find those unholy spriggan for the easter eggs event !
So maybe it's just pushing luck for trying too hard and too long in the same zone, just switch and take it easy, it'll come eventually ^^

I'm at 7 ATMA without even trying to farm them thoroughly... I may be a lucky bastard though... (though, I had done nearly 300 FATE since the patch came out)

I used to think there was something behind it besides RNG, because I remember the guy telling you he doesn't know how to get an atma in the initial quest dialogue. Tried a number of different ways but then I got my twelfth one and decided I didn't care anymore.

There's a hidden stat based on which deity you chose at character creation.

As we know, there are divisions by bell, moons and years.

    http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Time

The base drop rate is about 2%, however during a bell matching your deities element (4 periods of 1 game hour per day) you gain a 5% increased chance of a drop, making the rate around 7%. This is a very simple part of the equation.

Next there are moons, this is a boost of 20% for days matching your deities elements but factored by the phase of the moon. So a full moon on a day matching your entities element would give the full boost, but a half moon only a 10% boost, and a new moon 0%.

There's a boost during the exact month of your deity, but this is small, only around 2%.

There's a mega-bonanza birthday bonus where on the nameday of your character, you will get a fixed 40% drop rate.

But all of this only applies if you face the direction of your deities element whilst the FATE reward is calculated.

About 7 of us in my FC got our 12 within a few days by only doing up to 10 fates in a zone, if no atma drops you change zone.

Set up a route so you can zone without using gil to teleport. It took me about 200-300 fates to get all 12.

    Since forever...

I would have it completed by now, but Sony distribute broken PS4's like SE distribute broken dreams...

(I'd ask how you were doing, except I don't want to hijack the thread! See you in Exodus though, ha!)
