The purpose of trash monsters is to provide some kind of resistance to just running straight to the boss, it seems the XIV community is allergic to it though, OP has a point ...in other MMOs you are forced to go through trash to get to the boss, even in WoW.

Another thing people always say how WoW is easy mode, but chances are if you ran in and gathered up 4-5 packs of mobs in a dungeon you would die pretty damn quickly.

    1. On lv 50 EXP is useless, how about adding some kind of merit system that will boost our stats or give us additional tomes per trash mob.
We don't need to make our characters any stronger or there will be even less challenge to these dungeons and more importantly end game content.

SE should focus on more lock out mechanics in dungeons so :-
    1) people can't ignore trash ... SE have done this to some extent with the new dungeons and the gates that unlock or keys that drop.
    2) SE need to add a debuff for pulling too many packs of mobs. (Frenzy)
    3) SE need to split the myth/sold evenly across all boss encounters.
    4) Speed runs need to be killed, they cause way too much aggro and bitching and just makes for a bad community in general.

Ya... I dont enjoy that but maybe you do.
Never said I enjoy it ..

But that is what dungeons are ... you should know this before going in there, if you don't like it .. go fight primals instead.

Ah cool cool, sorry I couldn't follow before.

Sadly this is a world where the impatient breed, the general attitude you'll find in PF and DF is that nobody is willing to help or even consider that they aren't the only person in the party with an intention for the run.
That being said there are a great deal of decent folk that will go the extra mile to make someone else enjoy the game as much as they themselves do...

I actually love getting fresh 50s in the DF/PF. It is such a refreshing change of pace (imo) and it is also rewarding to see someone do it the right way and not just overgear-powerstomp everything.

BTW is that the MNK soldiery headpiece?

Trash has never served a purpose other than to slow you down. I prefer skipping trash pulls as they are useless. I'd rather see more things like Coil where trash is almost non-existent than dungeons with all kinds of trash mobs.

The simple reason, OP? There's no incentive to kill trash mobs. You get nothing from them.

That said, I'm not excusing people using DF right now to run the first two bosses of Brayflox HM then dropping or asking to be kicked. That's not the purpose of DF.

That's a symptom of design issues though. Putting a ridiculous myth requirement to upgrade a weapon is the main cause of this issue. Again though, people who want to speed run for myth would have no issue using the PF to do so.

The other issue is tying huge myth rewards to Roulette. It doesn't have the effect SE wants. It turns into a daily chord that you just want to get over with as soon as possible.

I agree, while I have no problems speedrunning some instances it is indeed nice to occasionally have a group of newer/less well geared players in a dungeon and taking it easy.
In the end I'm still playing a game with other people and the newbies tend to be more talkative.

Lately the roulette has been giving me Titan on the trials, I must say I have had a very good time teaching newer players to dance.

They tried to make trash mob useful to kill when they added some gil to each kill, but I think it's not enough insentive.
As said before, make it stack myth/soldiery for each kill, and give them all at the end of the dunjon, so killing trash will become useful, and doing the dunjon to the end is a necessity.
But it won't stop "pro speed running" when tank takes 3-4 pack of mobs and the team AoE the hell out out them.

if anyone played LOTRO: the dungeons (especially the raids) had trash that was actually difficult. Sometimes because they simply outnumbered you and had huge life totals so it was a gear check to survive the onslaught, but others had really interesting mechanics that made the trash an adventure in itself... challenging but rewarding (because all trash had the the chance to drop parts to upgrade endgame weapons).
