Problems with Blacklist/blacklisting.

I recently encountered an issue with the Party Finder. Sometimes I get an error msg that says "Failed to join party"

This error msg with the PF is a result of blacklisting. I know this b/c the person's PF Group I tried to join is one who specifically went out of his way to msg me that I suck @ DRG & shouldn't play, or some nonsense along the lines of uninstalling. Then his next message was he'll blacklist me for being an ass. All subjective until you find out what really happened.

Blacklist by right of feature & implementation should affect communicative ability only, or so I had originally thought/assumed. But it seems to act as a deterrent by also preventing conflicting individuals from being in the same group.

This is not fair in my opinion. It is because for w/e beef you have with that one person which prevents you from being w/the 2-6 others whom you've no problems with.

What I would like to maybe suggest for a future update is a fix to the blacklist feature. That it would 100% block communication flow only b/n the persons involved. Rather than prevent cont. play. After all, the purpose of blacklist is to silence those whom plague you with unyielding spam/annoyances. Since when is it a means to oust people for lack of play ability?

This misuse of the blacklist system will only have degenerative effects on the server's communities in the future. B/c eventually, people will become more aware of this "side-effect" and utilize it as a sort of "banlist." Then there will soon be no point to playing the game or being on a server for a great many individuals. Can't join groups when being collectively expunged from socialization by other reasons than communicative ability.

For the record, the person who blacklisted me is no one of any superior ability than my own. Again, subjective until you know what had actually happened.

Interesting. It's probably better off that way though. I imagine that once you joined the group, he would just have complained about you/badmouthed you until you were removed.

I can certainly see that being a possible outcome should my proposed fix be implemented. But it's one person's word against another. If the 2-6 are fair people, they can choose to see how things go to see if the instigator is correct. Although, if the person badmouthing the blacklisted were also an individual notoriously known for not being a superb player with game mechanics, it really wouldn't help his case anyway. Not especially when you yourself have such good rep with a mass majority of the server.

I have had this happen a lot I will go down the list to look for something and by the time I do it says failed to join party or not the right job. I exit PF go back to the same party and someone has already joined the party as the spot I wanted.



As for the Blacklist and not being able to party I didn't see anything in the patch notes for a change. There is a guy on our server that I added because his name choice, Anyways I've partied with him before once in PF and once in a random AK DF run.

I don't think Blacklist can block ppl in PF, it might because someone in that party has the chocobo companion summoned.
It happened to me once, I was in a party with 7 ppl, and recruiting in the PF. Our leader get the chocobo companion out, it says full party as the result, but the PF recruiting was still there so we thought it was fine. Then we just keep seeing a message said someone cannot join our party, so our leader have to dismiss the chocobo to let that person join.

IF the leader of the PF group is blackisted or blacklisted you, you cannot join. If he's just a normal member, then you can join.

I'm actually glad that the Party Finder works like this, if this is the case. Maybe it's just me, but if I've actually added a non-RMT person to my blacklist, then it has gotten to the point where I want absolutely nothing to do with him/her; I'm certainly not going to want to be in a group with them.
