Yoshi-P Appreciation Thread :)

Tanaka? You mean that guy who was totally out of touch with both the fanbase and the rest of the MMO market, had ridiculous policies which frustrated FFXI players for years, stunted FFXI's potential, and ran FFXIV into the ground? Yeah, that guy sounds like a great alternative to Yoshi-P... -_-

Remember back when Tanaka was still producer of FFXIV? In one interview shortly after FFXIV's release, he specifically stated that the environments wouldn't ever be changed because the dev team was very proud of them (not sure why anyone would be proud of such terrible environments, but that's what he said). But thanks to Yoshi-P's fresh perspective and lack of emotional attachment (which would only bias him), we're now getting new, redesigned environments after all.

Even in FFXI, there were things players had been begging for for years, but it never seemed like the dev team was listening until Tanaka left FFXI to work on FFXIV, at which point FFXI almost instantly started becoming much better.

Plus, if we were still operating under Tanaka's old policies, these forums likely wouldn't even exist, as Tanaka seemed to hate official forums for some odd reason (FFXI never had official forums until the end of 2010, which is just sad for an MMO that was originally released in 2002). In fact, Tanaka's mysterious and illogical reasoning for not having official forums is likely one of the biggest factors that contributed to the original dev team's ignorance of what players really wanted in a new FF MMO.

In contrast, the only bad thing I can say about Yoshi-P is that it's unfortunate he didn't replace Tanaka sooner.

Anyways, as far as I'm concerned he seems like a really cool guy and I enjoy reading his producer letters. I do really appreciate all he's doing for us, regardless of what future updates will be like.

That's exactly what this thread is about, it's thanking him for working so hard on a game that we play for free. Even if you dislike what he has done with the game, and the choices that he has made, you can still appreciate the fact that he is trying his best.

Get a better job, we thank each other all the time where I work and I enjoy a very positive working environment where people are smiles most of the time and we help out each other. It's not even a very high paying job it's just that this environment is what our bosses have chosen to encourage.

I know I am lucky to have a job like that, but really that's how it should be everywhere. A high morale boosts productivity and people actually want to come to work.

On that note, thanks to Yoshi and all the team currently working hard on this game, while I don't agree with the combat revamp, I can appreciate how crazy things must be right now.
