Can't we just let FFXIV be its own game?

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to have a fight against Jecht/Final Aeon, Ultimecia or Sin. But does that mean I want them to be added? Hell no.

I want FFXIV to be its own game. Not some shitty nostalgia trip involving one of the most overrated (in my opinion) games in the series.

I'm all for little snippets of the other games, such as the CT, Tonberries, Biggs & Wedge, mention of Tidus etc, but I don't want major plot areas of previous titles seeping their way into XIV. I want it to be its own game.
The devs can think of their own amazing bosses without having to rely on fanservice to sell them.

Though, I really can't wait to fight Cloud of Darkness...

The difference is that Cloud of Darkness makes at least a tiny shred of sense. Jenova doesn't.
Not to mention that III isn't exactly the behemoth that VII is, plenty of people will have no idea what she/it is.

The Tidus reference was somewhere in the main story.
An NPC mixes Tidus' name with Titan (iirc)
