I trust nothing but my DS4 to work on my PS4 as far as Bluetooth is concerned. Please please come back and let us know if that works on your PS4, I'd like to be sure before I spend my hard earned $11!
I also use the wireless Logitech, used it on xbox 360 for FFXI and for ps3 on 14 and it works great. It costs a little more but I've tried cheaper brands and they were terrible. To the OP,
Keyboard is well worth a purchase just for chatting and navigation. The PS4 should recognise any USB keyboard and mouse. I use a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse setup and it works great.
At the end of the day the investment wont just be for your PS4 or this game, you can use it on your smart TV, PC, PS4 web browsing etc. so will be worth the purchase.
UPDATE:
So I got a usb keyboard (Anker, cheapo from an online retailer). It works wonderfully. I can use it just for chat, or I can go into the options and put additional functionality to it as I want. That said, with all keyboard commands automatically functional by default you can do a LOT more than chat with the keyboard and still do everything else by controller. I'm using it for chat and for emotes at the moment and might use it for more stuff as I familiarise myself with the text command inputs. I can emphatically answer my own OP- yes, it really is better with a keyboard, and yes you can still use the controller as much or as little as you want!
I finally cracked and bought a ps4 today but i cannot for the life of me get the official Sony wireless keyboard to pair at all. My ps4 won't even recognise it's existence. Has anyone had any luck with these? If not i'll snap up another fast.
when I used to play on PS3 i purchased logictech blue tooth keyboard, it worked perfect, but ever since I upgraded to PS4, when I type really fast, it would miss a letter or two, it has happened so much that my nick is MT "misstell" now with my FC mates. >_<
this is what I have

for ps4 I just use a cheap ($10) bluetooth cellphone keyboard similar to this one

I dont like big clunky keyboards clogging up my living room and this has given me minimal fuss as far as missing letters as I type.
I have a usb keyboard that I have used on my xbox 360, ps3 and now on the ps4. It works fine. Considering I have spilled by accident wine and soda over the 6 yrs I have it.
Thanks for the update and great to hear it is going so well. I have used a keyboard on a number of console MMOs (dating back to EQOA on the PS2) and wouldn't be without it - and it's even the same old keyboard.UPDATE:
